The biggest win of the WC-Elliott series had everyone healthy, @ Ellliott and West won by double digits. I'm chill. I'm from WC but I'm far from a homer. I'm just calling it like I see it, and I was not talking about your post. I'm talking about the post that say it's Ashland and Rowan and then everyone else. Those two may end up in the region finals, but I don't think it would be a shocking upset if Elliott or West won the region.

Did not know that. With the little wrote about UK and AC I figured they were not interested in each other.

How in the world is West not mentioned in some of these post? They have beat Elliott twice including once at Elliott. They have split the season series with Rowan, including winning the later game on the schedule. They got beat by 5 by Ashland in the AIT. Put them at 4 if you have to but they are atleast worthy of mention.

Nice looking schedule. Should be a fun season for teams in the NEKY area.

Great news. Best of luck to the kid at MSU. Hope he has better luck with the financial aid office than I did over the course of my career there :lol:. Other than that it is a pretty good small school.

Rowan County is getting better and better. The 16th region tourney should be really good. I would probably have Ashland as the favorite, but Rowan, WC and Elliott look like strong contenders to me. Who knows maybe by the end of the year another team or two could sneak up into the conversation.

For 20 bucks an hour I'd dive Dennis Rodman style at any lose ball going away from the court.

What job do you not have to work to break even when you start? If I (hopefully) get a teaching job next year I will be lucky to break even after my first check (or months worth of checks), when you count clothes, travel, and moving expenses. That's 20-25 days worth of work at a minimum before I woudl actually make money. And that is for a full-time job, a job that has cost alot of money in college to get. Refs make good money, or no one would do it. If it takes 4 games to break even for the year, which could be a weeks worth of games, so be it. Don't they also get paid by the mile for travel? I could swear they do. I will admit being a ref is a tough job. I've done it at the lower and middle school levels, and even that is tough. Sometimes what the fans say are hurtful, but I'll admit its worth it when you get the check. And I don't love basketball other than to watch. I don't even enjoy playing that much let alone calling games. But the money is good at lower levels, so I know its good at the HS level. Fans are fanatics and often say horrible things to refs. But I've seen fans be way harder on coaches and players. How many coaches each year lose their jobs because the parents and fans don't like them or they don't play the right kids? How many refs lose their jobs if any? How about the kids who put their time in to play the sport only to hear parents complain that their kid should play in front of them? Or the poor kids that get yelled at from the stands for shooting too much, turning the ball over too much, or just not being good enough? Yeah, it's hard to be a ref, but these guys sign up for it and get paid big dollars on the hour for something that most of them probably enjoy doing. I'd say it's harder being a coach and it's way harder being a player. Getting yelled at for doing a poor job is unfortunately part of the American sports culture. I'm not saying I don't feel sorry for refs because I do, but most come back year after year so they must not think that the yelling is too bad. :thumb: And the coach is just as scrutinized as the referees, only they have to live and work in the communities.

I don't think he's fast enough to return kicks in the SEC, I don't think he's big enough to play in the SEC. That's JMO, but playing on a ND team that is reloading is much different than playing week in and week out in the SEC. I'm not trying to knock the kid, but I don't think people should be up in arms that UK wasn't all over him either. He's a nice player no doubt, I just don't see him as someone UK cannot live without going forward.

Does he have an offer from a high level Big 10 team right now? We don't know how well AC would do in the SEC. He looked good in the brief time I saw him at ND but I didn't see a star in the making either. Can Towles commit to his U of L offer now if wants to or is it a wait and see kind of thing?

I think in this situation you have to get a coach who understands the situation and would embrace trying to change the program. I don't know if a philosophy change as far as what offense or defense would matter, because I think a coach has to coach the scheme he knows the best. Every system out there has been successful somewhere and disastrous somewhere else. I also don't know if a more wide open offense would definitely bring out more kids for the long run. You might see a jump in year 1, but winning is the best cure for getting kids out IMO. IMO a coach in this situation would need to have a great plan for the program, with short-term and long-term goals to be reached. Work on promoting the program in the community, solidify the younger levels of the program along with the HS (JFL, Middle, etc.). Show improvement in the program and really advertise the program should help build interest. I think a program wants to get to the point to where every boy in the school system dreams of playing for the HS team one day, and every parent is willing to help them become the most productive member of the team that they can be. A good off-season plan would be necessary, and more than anything I think fundamentals would need to be stressed. For a program in this shape I feel that K.I.S.S. (Keep it simple) would work better than trying something exotic. If a team can only win one game a year, how in the world are they suppose to be able to put in an Oregon-style offense (for example)? Stressing the fundamentals like blocking, tackling, ball protection, etc. along with a good plan for the program and a lot of hard work would go a long way. Overall I think a school would need to find a guy who is willing to be willing to stay and fix the program for the long-run. I do not necessarily mean a coach who will stay there for 20 years when I say that either. I think of that the way Coach Cal thinks of talented freshman. You want program builders and not program-takers. There a probably a lot of guys who could come in, take the quick way to winning and try to get to a better job as quick as possible. IMO, you would a coach who is going to set the path for the program to build and become better in the future, even if that coach only stays 4 or 5 years.

Isn't the saying "you offer the kids you don't think you can get first" when it comes to recruiting? If UK wants him, I'm sure they will give him plenty of love.

This West team can win the region if they play together. Maybe they're not the favorite or even the likely pick, but I like this team. Lawson is the most underrated player in the region IMO. With wins over Rowan and Elliott and a close one against Ashland in the AIT, I think they've worked themselves into contender status.

I support all KY schools, but I don't think what Born said was meant as an insult some of you guys are too sensitive. I didn't read where he said that he thought Trinity, Highlands or any other school were terrible teams.

What can Greenup do to improve their situation here? Is it parents? Support?

THe service academies are competitive with smaller OL, but I do think they are limited as to how far they can go. If the goal is to be competitive and win some games it's fine, but to win at a high level I would expect size would be really important.

West Carter is rounding into shape. I expect they will continue to get better. Any specifics on how their players played last night?

I was thinking that either he might have won it, but I will have to check.

Congrats to all that made it, especially Bond with taking hom player of the year. I want to say its the first time a WC player has won it, but I could be wrong about that.

Is Ashland pretty tough this year? I know they were highly rated, but they seem to be off to a really good start. BTW Ramfan, I tried to send you a message but you inbox was full.

Wasn't expecting the game to go like this, but what can you say? If Baker is not the best coach in the region he is definitely in the conversation.
