To answer the question proposed those who have not hired a coach yet may be doing exactly what it takes to make this a better team. Sometimes coaches are hired to early just to get someone in place without doing a thorough search for the best available candidate. Just to put someone in place without looking beyond this year would be a disservice to the entire program. Personally I am not sure how much is gained out of the Spring practices for small schools when they do in fact have other players missing. Good Luck on the search.

Great team victory for the Panthers with several players contributing . I liked the way they played last night, they really got after it.

Tonights game against Eminence would be a great opportunity for Carroll County to take a much needed step forward. They passed up open shots in the last couple minutes of the game last night only to end up taking a forced shot or turning it over. If they are hesitant to shoot at this point in the game that explains why they have been stuck in the 30's for so long. Regardless of their recent record they are not really playing that bad. The step they need to take IMO is to shoot the open shot. They just need to know its ok to take the open shot. Gotta do something to get out of the 30's. I also liked the way they pushed the tempo in the KCD game. I still think this team will make some noise in the District. I really liked Coach Yagers fire and intensity on the sidelines last night, I think the boys feed off this.

Carroll is averaging 35 points per game in its last 5. May want to look back at the first time they played Gallatin and see if they can duplicate that recipe for success. Seems like after that game things started going downhill for the Panthers. I for one wonder what the mindset is with the substition patterns.

To say this thing is wide open is an understatement. You could see a team get eliminated the first round and then be playing for a chance to go to Rupp a few weeks later.

Call me a homer but I think when its all said and done Carroll Yager will have the most improved team from last year. Do not be fooled by the record then or now. Wins and losses do not always tell the story due to the fact that there are alot of things that need to be undone from years past. We did have a couple of nice wins early and lost some games we could have won. Hopefully some of our tough losses will prepare us come tournament time. I know that is an over used expression but the mentality of this team will be changed for the better. Whether this success will translate into coach of the year or not remains to be seen. Hats off to the other coaches mentioned as well.:thumb:

This is really unfortunate for Trent, he has had a rough Sr. season. I can only begin to appreciate the hard work he has put in over the years for this moment in time. I hope anyone that has shown interest in recruiting him continues to do so he deserves the opportunity to purse his dreams. Good Luck on a speedy recovery. I hope to see you lace em up next Wed. against Carroll in the All A.

All very good reasons as far as basketball goes however there are major Safety Issues inside and outside of the building as well. Along with the exits being blocked, the parking lot is not lit very well. I had an elderly couple say they almost fell last night. This needs to be taken into consideration, there are alot of accidents waiting to happen at this facility.

Regardless of what the win loss record has been recently CC players and fans should be excited. The team is going through some growing pains right now but thats almost to be expected. As stated before once this group learns to trust each other regardless of who is on the floor they will be fine. They also need to block out alot of what is being said around them and to trust the fact that they have one of the best coaching staffs around. Realize the fact that every night is not going to be your night. This group of players has a chance to put CC basketball back on top not only in the district, but in the 8th region. If they could only see their potential if they ALL put team first.

I agree if they play as a team they will go far this season, but they have to get back to that level of trusting each player on the floor.

True, I guess my point was the same as Lunatics we just need to share the ball more there are several players who have the ability to light it up every night.

With much respect for the family, I can only say that it is not a sports related injury or illness and I have only heard limited information. What I do know is he is the heart and soul of this group wheter he is on the floor or on the bench his attitude never changes. I know all the players, coaches, and fans look forward to his return.

Exactly right, Carroll needs to stop looking for faces and start to hit the open man, which they missed many, many, times last night as well as in games past. When this team shares the ball and has 3-4 players in double figures they are very hard to beat. It is still very early for this team but they need to learn to trust each other especially before the All A. I think being back home playing a tough district and regional schedule will get them re focused. I would also like to send prayers and best wishes out to Kory . We miss your presence on this team.

As I stated previously my proposal was based on the proximity of the schools in relation to mileage. The competitive balance was noticed until after the fact. But lets face it I am sure with my proposal all of the Oldham schools would much rather have poor little Trimble to kick around year after year to ensure a regional birth as opposed to Shelby County being in the district. I am also sure that in the back of everyones mind they are not wanting Scott County back in the Eighth because of their dominance. Ya I realize Scott County would be a drive for some but no more than a Grant or Williamstown driving to Spencer if your talking about the Region and its logistics. Not sure what will happen with the redistricting but I do hope its in the best interest of the student athlete getting home at a decent hour during the week, and not in the best interest of the political machineists.

Believe me no one preaches that more than I do. I am adamant about playing tougher competition in order to get better and hate to play the same team more than one time per season, other than tournament play. My initial thought process on the proposal was based on geographics relating to students traveling in the early part or middle of the week. I feel like geograpically my proposal made sense. As far as upheaval of the region, I was only following suit with bringing in the new teams mentioned, what a better time to do an overall rebalance. Again geographically I think it makes for the least amount of travel.

If that scenario takes place, which does make sense geographically, I would offer the following. Number the District however you want. Grant, Williamstown, Walton, and Owen. Carroll, Henry, Trimble, Gallatin, and Eminence. Oldham, South Oldham, North Oldham, and Shelby. Anderson, Frankfort, Franklin, Western Hills, and Spencer. I not only think this makes sense geographically, but it offers a competitive balance year after year as well. It gives a team like Trimble a chance to compete for the Regional tournament yearly. This alignment also maintains and produces other rivalries as well.

Somerset-Jordan Mann and Derick Smith Played with them both in college and they are very talented players and even better people!

I watched the game and afterwards it was hard to believe the margin was that big and Spencer only had 32. The defense looked very good as did the offensive execution. The Panthers will definately get tested tonight against Iroquois.

Good Point I was thinking about this last night while watching the game. The intensity both teams played with was amazing. I think both teams will be ready to play but it will be tough to match the intensity they have when they play each other.

Exciting game to watch to say the least. Sweet Prediciton Super B, by the way I need the powerball numbers for tomorrow. Seriously it was good to see CC not only compete with Gallatin again, but pull out a big time win. GC is a very respected team wherever you go, and when you beat a team like Gallatin you start to believe in yourself. I can guarantee Yager preaches to these boys that they belong at the top, now I hope the boys take that into every game with them. This district as well as the ALL A is going to be a battle all year long. The best thing about a rivalry game like this is it was a very physical ,hard fought game in which the players truly showed great sportmanship as did the coaches and fans.

Or it could be that Owen and Carroll are both good teams.

You missed a good one for sure. First time I have seen the boys in black play as a team in along time. That is what you can expect from Yager . They will only get better as the year goes on. You would have been proud they played unselfish as a team can play. Still alot of work to do, I can promise no one on that bench will be celebrating long. However it is a signature win to let people know CC is back on the map. FYI the 8th grade also knocked off Owens 8th grade for the first time in a while. Good things to come for the program .

Carroll got down by 14 or sixteen very early in this one. They fought back to pull within a couple of points late. I think they found the right combination the last 3 quarters of the game. I also think they found other scoring options last night other than Yager, which will be crucial as teams start to focus on him. I was a little disappointed that we did not get the ball in his hands very late when the game was on the line. Overall a very good effort by the boys. They will get better every game and part of the fun will be seeing them grow as a team. This was very evident as they shared the ball much better than the Williamstown game.
