Carroll shot well at Henry Co. tonight. Their defense was probably the best I have seen all year.

 

Took 45 minutes to get out of the parking lot. It is going to be a challenge to have a regional tournament there.

It took me a while to type mine I was still seething over how long it took to get out of the parking lot!

The construction crew better get more parking finished in the next 7 weeks and the gym wall fixed so the fire marshal moves their signs. At least 1/3 of the seats are currently blocked off.

Wow. Are there no other options for the regional or is it like a law or something that it has to be there? Last year we parked very far away on the side of the road.

There was a region meeting last year to discuss possibilities for moving the boys region from Henry County while the construction is ongoing. When all was said and done, I believe they (the ADs) felt that it was still the best option.

 

1) the location is about as good as you can get in the 8th...

2) it's the largest gym in the 8th...

3) I think there was also some sentiment involved. The 8th Region boys tournament was first played at Henry Co HS in 1963, and has been there ever since - the longest any region tournament has been played at the same venue.

 

There may have been other considerations as well...gym availability, etc, but personally, I think the clincher was simply the size of the gym. There's no other gym in the 8th with anywhere close to the same number of seats.

According to the KHSAA website Carroll County has the 2nd largest gym in the region at 3300 with Shelby next at 3000. Henry County is rated at 5400.

I just don't see Carroll's gym holding 3300.

How many of those 5400 seats will be available? The last time I was there no one was allowed in some of the upper section because of fire safety issues.

The Fire Marshall has closed off about half the seating capacity. I vote to move it until the construction is done.
