I think some of the Northern Kentucky and Ryle folks forgot the teams that Trinity plays week in and week out in the regular season……. FD, Male, Carmel, Center Grove and Cincy St. X. This may have been an “all time” Ryle team. To the Rocks, the next team up…….

Thanks for explaining that. Does the Fayette County public school system have any process in place to prevent a free for all with kids “taking their their talents” to FD and bringing others with them?

Congrats to Trinity on #29. Coach Cobb and his staff know how to develop a team throughout a season for complimentary football - all 3 phases. Back to back trophies and a 26-4 two season record vs the schedule they play. Very impressive.

Trinity will be a much better team when they get two starters back - their best player back (Jayden Johnson) and their 6’5” junior Tom Horneck (rebounding machine).

Rocks are without 2 starters for this game - Johnson and a 6’5” junior.

Since Sphire became HC they are 5-6, 9-2, 12-2 and 11-3. I don’t really follow them but with those records and with folks saying the program is definitely showing a more talented roster, the HC and his staff must be doing things pretty well. No?

I am not as familiar with the recent history of Highlands football (J Lorenzen is not walking thru that door anytime soon) but it seems like they have trended up in the last few years. This season 11-3 with wins over Cov Cath and Lex Cath and played Ryle within one score and a state semis game. What is the beef?

I really am impressed how each of these programs has steadily improved these last few years. Did not PT take a hit for a few years after McCracken County HS opened?

CAL rolls. Big step up in class for Union. Their regular season schedule in no way prepares them for an opponent such as this.

These matchups are a bit of the “end justifies the means”. Still not right. The KHSAA must correct a couple of the factors within the RPI process so that the “means” is more accurate and more respected.

Amazing what Coach Cobb and his staff have done with this Trinity team considering the challenging schedule they play and the many sophomores playing on both sides of the ball. A 12-2 record, holding FD to zero points when the Broncos average 30 per game and taking the Rocks to another state championship game.

Maybe the other team gets some credit so far.

Good for Beechwood. They earned home field advantage and have decided radio only. By the way, the KHSAA believes in live streaming the 6 championship games, but behind a pay wall. Makes total sense to me on both counts.

I am also an old guy high school sports fan and I prefer “butts in seats”. That is what makes the game day experience so great for the players and cheerleaders. Not more and more people staying home as a “comfort”. And I have been to several different high school football games this season where the administration has said that live streaming is definitely causing smaller crowds.

If “Unequaled Tradition” = being 100+ years old, then I wish the Tigers Happy Birthday. If “Tradition” encompasses lots of other things beyond age, then you just might find a few other high school football programs that can argue being at least “Equal” in tradition. And some of those are still playing this Thanksgiving weekend.

Go back and re-read the quote from Wallace. He was referring to the St. X football “program”. Unequaled tradition. Not quite.
