Whatever do you mean????

I mean.....I can't name an athletic department in the state that has as many state titles as St. X.

I'm a Cov Cath fan all day long, but calling a spade a spade, I'm pretty sure 172 state titles in 13 different sports qualifies as unequaled in the state, right? I've gotta think 172 state titles is pretty rare air for any school in any state.

Go back and re-read the quote from Wallace. He was referring to the St. X football “program”. Unequaled tradition. Not quite.

The "unequaled tradition" bit wasn't part of the quote from Coach Wallace.

Regardless, I take statements like that largely as part of the rhetoric that school administrations and marketing departments pretty regularly put into mailers, news releases, and other various sundry propaganda pieces. I don't personally see it as anything worth getting any heartburn over. And if you really want to look at it critically, as a football program, apart from St. X, where else in Kentucky can you be a part of a private, Catholic, high school football program that's over 100 years old?

If “Unequaled Tradition” = being 100+ years old, then I wish the Tigers Happy Birthday. If “Tradition” encompasses lots of other things beyond age, then you just might find a few other high school football programs that can argue being at least “Equal” in tradition. And some of those are still playing this Thanksgiving weekend.

It's been a slogan a long time. I remember it when I went to school there in early 1990's. I see it as a marketing tool for alumni. If Male or Manual used the same slogan wouldn't bother me in the least. Trinity could use it for football and I wouldn't care.

Marketing kickoff to a multi-million campaign.  Sure don’t generate momentum by talking about losses, apologizing for any shortcomings and uttering softly about anything negative.  This announcement was meant to generate excitement/support from those familiar with the outstanding St X programs.

I just googled Trinity's school motto. It's a latin phrase that translates to "To The Highest Good."

LOL, I wonder if X fans get all butthurt over Trinity's arrogance in claiming that their efforts reach the highest good. ?

Instead of getting all bent out of shape over something that's got nothing to do with me, I'll just say that the locker room looks totally sick. The campus at St. X looks more like a freakin college campus than a high school. Pretty awesome!

Trinity's school motto is Maximo Animi Ardore which is Latin for "With Maximum Effort of The Soul."

About X saying "unequal tradition" it depends on context and what they are talking about. Multiple traditions, football and otherwise, that match it around the state. But X is the oldest boys Catholic HS and one of the oldest overall in the state. So they do have that.
