Trailing 14-7 late in the 2nd quarter, the Rocks converted 4th and 5 inside the Moeller 20. Scored a couple plays later. From there, Trinity outscored Moeller 28-8 in the second half. Very impressive win against another quality opponent.

Ballard is very dangerous IMO. They have a very athletic defense that gives a variety of looks and runs extremely well. Offensively, they have the best WR in the city (maybe state) in Parker, who is a threat to score any time he touches the ball. In addition to the Hardin kid (committed to IU) who plays opposite Parker, Ballard has some serious threats at all of their skilled positions, including a mobile QB which always seems to give Trinity fits. Tough match-up for the Rocks.

Rocks won in a very hard hitting contest 28-12. With the score 21-6, the Irish scored late in the 4th, only to have the PAT (which would have made it a one score game) blocked by Jason Hatcher. Cathedral recovered the ensuing onsides kick attempt, but turned the ball over on downs. Dalyn Dawkins added a long TD run on 4th and short with just over a minute to play to seal the victory. Trinity travels to Cincinnati next Saturday for perhaps their toughest test of the season, where they will face Moeller. Kickoff is set for 10:30am.

Thought I'd pass along the final score. Elder got a TD late to complete the scoring. Scoring for the Rocks: James Quick - 2 TD receptions Ryan White - 1 KOR for TD, 1 TD reception Dalyn Dawkins - 1 TD Run After surrendering a score on the first Elder drive, the defense kept the Panthers in check until late. A lot of big hits from the Rock D, especially Jason Hatcher, Connor Hill and Daeshawn Bertram. X is next!

Should have seen the '07 Bombers, you might change your tune. Great squad though. The best either T/X will see this year.

I'm being told Trinity won pretty handily, either 28 or 35 to 0. Can anyone clarify? Either way, a very good showing against a great program.

The issue of length of quarters was brought up in the Highlands/Boone Co Frosh thread and I was curious what teams across the state were doing at their various levels of play. Here's what I know: Varsity= 12 minute quarters Freshmen= 8 or 10 minute quarters depending on who you talk to. Louisville CSAA= 6 minute quarters at all levels (ridiculous imo, and don't get me started on 70yd fields) Louisville Optimist= 10 minute quarters What does your team/league do?

Rocks scored on all 5 of their first half possessions. Dalyn Dawkins had a pair of rush TD's and a solid game carrying the ball. Travis Wright (QB) rushed for a TD and threw for another to Tari Mtangi. Tyler Owen finished the first half scoring with a TD pass to James Quick.

Same reason a St. X alum would send his son to Trinity, b/c the family feels it's a better fit for their son.

Trinity has retired two jersey numbers in football, both of which won the Mr. Football Award, Jeff and Brian Brohm.

No problem! I haven't seen him either. Only going by what I've been told. I am very eager to see him in action though!

Quick is playing slot receiver for the freshmen. I don't think you will see him in a varsity uniform this year, but who knows. Not because he doesn't have the ability, but because there is not a need right now.

It remains to be seen whether or not this team will be more talented than last years TOP to BOTTOM. Last years group had an attitude and work ethic I have never seen before from a freshman group. However, there are about 4 or 5 kids in this group who are probably more talented individually. The jury is still out on them as a unit since no one has seen them all on the same field or in the same room, yet!:sssh:

Spread to run or spread to pass, it doesn't matter! The whole idea is to put your kids in space. IMO the answer isn't scheme, it's speed!

As juniors, both Stein and Smyth saw significant minutes on varsity at wide receiver, and both started JV at QB.

This is good news! I wonder what motivated them to move it to Saturday? Attendance, CSAA, alumni or a combination?

I agree RM. At 250 bucks a pop (being generous) times 120 players, that's 30000 dollars. Not many h.s. athletic programs could/would foot that bill, not even the all rich and powerful Trinity!:lol:
