So why can't there be a rule if both coaches agree, they concede the game after 1 or 2 innings if it is ugly instead of stepping off. You could then either scrimmage or let the other team bat or just go home. That way the score isn't ugly or embarrassing and they still get to "play" so it doesn't seem like a wasted trip.

According to post on Highlands Football 100 years strong on Facebook, highlands got response from NFL he was 3rd string QB and not active. He was allowed to dress but if for any reason he played in the first 3 quarters, the 1st two quarterbacks became ineligible. He was not considered part of active roster.

According to the NFL, he was inactive for the game therefore did not get the golden football. He was named third string before the game and then made inactive. They only gave footballs to players who were active for the game.

If I was that kid and my high school coach steered me there and then told me to not listen to anyone else, I would have a hard time trusting the high school coach again.

Then it comes down to a participation team then. It's not perfect but it was voted on by the coaches and this is who they thought were the best players at their position.
