This is pretty neat. All high schools that produced someone who played in a Super Bowl will receive a golden football from the NFL.

Here is a newspaper article from Jan. when Rodger Bird presented his to Corbin High School.

They are only listing Marty Moore as a SB winner for Highlands. What about Jared?! Doesn't he have a ring?

Jared didn't play in the game.

Pretty cool.

This is really cool.. My wife's Uncle was on on the Lions 57 Championship team. He was a Elder Grad and played College ball at Xavier..

Should be a great center piece for the already crowded trophy case. What a great honor for all involved at Highlands High School. Couldn't be happier for Mr. Marty Moore.

Jared didn't play in the game.

Neither did Belechek though, right? Why do guys on the bench get rings then? Seems dumb to cut it off at playing time. It's a team sport, the guys on the bench are the ones behind scenes, that help prepare their teammates. Team sport... Seems like it would be easier to figure out teams instead of who got in the game too. And on top of that this is for high schools, why not let those other schools get some recognition?

According to the NFL, he was inactive for the game therefore did not get the golden football. He was named third string before the game and then made inactive. They only gave footballs to players who were active for the game.

Interesting, never heard that. He definitely dressed though?? Can you be inactive and dress?

According to post on Highlands Football 100 years strong on Facebook, highlands got response from NFL he was 3rd string QB and not active.

According to the Daily News live blog about the game, Jared was the inactive 3rd team QB.

The NFL had a 3rd quarterback rule until 2011. He was allowed to dress but if for any reason he played in the first 3 quarters, the 1st two quarterbacks became ineligible. He was not considered part of active roster.
