The Beechwood School Board approved new construction projects at last night's meeting that will include making the Beechwood athletic complex one of the best in the state. The new complex will include:

New turf for the football field that can also be used for soccer.

Installation of turf for the upper field that will create a new baseball field, new softball field and a second soccer field.

New surface for the track.

New surface for the tennis courts.

New lights and other amenities for both fields.

Construction is expected to be completed this summer in time for use of the fields this fall.

Other school improvements will be included in the project.

Congratulations to Beechwood Superintendent Dr. Mike Stacy, the Beechwood School Board and administration and the Beechwood community on this new construction project.

The built a new building but really did no upgrades to the field, and the turf was in pretty rough shape. Hopefully there will be some additional parking added

New softball field? Nice!!.. Did they have enough girls for a team this year?

Actually ... just so everyone is on the same page ... the football field stays as the football field.

The current baseball field and all grassy areas up top will be turfed ... so the soccer teams will have their own field during the fall (with bleachers, lights, etc) ... which then becomes the baseball field and softball field in the spring.

The city and the school are also in the process of upgrading General Ormsbey to a multi-use facility that will feature an 8 lane track (along with additional ammenities that will be available to the the general public).

Awesome stuff. And much needed improvements. The track is not a full track. The football field turf has been in need of replacement for a couple years. The baseball team hasn't been playing home games the last couple years. Boys soccer did not play home games on the soccer field. This is all very much needed.

Nice, but all that finished by the end summer? Seems a little ambitious.

Does BW still use their original turf from about 2002 or was it replaced ?

What awesome news!

Great work by everyone at Beechwood that had a hand in these improvements.

If you are interested in a great high school experience, Beechwood is a hard place to beat.

Can't wait to see it.

Yes, it is the original turf being replaced.

Great news! This is definitely much needed!

They definitely needed new turf for the football field. Good for Beechwood!

good news for the athletes at BW!

good news for the athletes at BW!

Actually it's good news for the entire school system, elementary and high school. The schools use those fields a lot for all students and many activities beyond games.
