Mostly by tax dollars from Cov Cath and Notre Dame families who live in Fort Mitchell.

The true and serious answer, I don't know.

Actually ... just so everyone is on the same page ... the football field stays as the football field.

 

The current baseball field and all grassy areas up top will be turfed ... so the soccer teams will have their own field during the fall (with bleachers, lights, etc) ... which then becomes the baseball field and softball field in the spring.

 

The city and the school are also in the process of upgrading General Ormsbey to a multi-use facility that will feature an 8 lane track (along with additional ammenities that will be available to the the general public).

 

That is good the football field will be stay football only, and that soccer will have their own place.

Funding answer:

 

With that said, I would like to point out that bonded monies are for brick and mortar projects and general fund monies are for yearly budget expenses (including staffing). Brick and mortar monies can never cross over to general fund monies because they are given with a specific purpose, to upgrade school faculties. Someone might ask you about this or they may already have, but the fact that we are spending money on facilities has nothing to do with our small problems with general fund dollars or the increased cost of unfunded mandates by the state.

We are making Covington Catholic pay for it. If they say anything then we will make the field 10 yards longer.

The old turf is coming off the football field. Project is moving ahead full speed.

 

On the funding question, this is a facilities upgrade that includes repairs and safety upgrades to the school building and grounds. Funding is from a bond issue.

Maybe this was discussed and I missed it, but it appears that Beechwood has a major replacement project going on at their field. Lots of new drainage pipes, piles of gravel, graders, etc. Can anyone share what were the problems with the old field? Is this a contractor correcting problems with the previous installation? Athletic boosters, private donations? Major expense for sure!

Field was old and needed replaced.

There was another thread started on this. It is a major project that covers all the grounds around the school and some building issues. The turf football field was overdue for replacement. Both CCH and Highlands replaced their fields last year and Beechwood's was put in about the same time as those two fields.

They also are starting to tear up the baseball field for its new turf.
