McCracken County and Tates Creek will duke it out tomorrow at 1:00pm for the Kentucky state baseball championship.

A win by the Commodores (34-7) would give them their first title in 33 years and fourth in school history. It would also continue the rich tradition of baseball in Lexington. Six Fayette County schools have combined for 13 state baseball titles since 1973.

For McCracken (33-7), it's an opportunity to breakthrough and claim the young program's first championship following a string of region titles and state tournament appearances that ended in defeat.

It's a matchup of old blood versus new. Who will reign supreme on the diamond in 2019?

I cannot see the pitch counts. However, looking at innings pitched here are the pitchers that appear to NOT be available tomorrow.

McCracken County - Ehling, Schneider and Crabtree are all out.

Tates Creek - Workman, Stone and Lewis all are out.

Who does that set up as the top two pitchers available for each team and who are the expected starters?

When if ever was the last time a Region 1 team won it all?

Paducah Tilghman in 1960. That's the only Region 1 champion.

Murray was the last Region 1 team to play for a championship, losing to Shelby County in 1979.

Noah Blythe (TC) and Ben Higdon (MC) to start would be my guess at first blush. They've both been extremely effective on the mound this season and neither has thrown in the past two weeks.
