Most Talented 3 Sport Athlete in NKY History

Recommended Posts

I figured since it was Hoops season this was the best forum to place this in. That being said, the last two years NewCath's Brady Hightchew is by far the most talented 3 sport athlete in NKY. So who from the past are some of the best ever to maybe hold this distinction?

Not been around here, 3 years, long enough to comment in the question, but I think its a shame that 3 sport athletes are list obsolete. The KHSAA allows way too much leeway for coaches to hold organized practice times. I am from northern Ohio, and the OHSAA is much more strict on this. The idea that a teenager gets two weeks the entire summer off during the dead period to me seems ludicrous. Not sure you will see the three sport kids anymore.

Kyle Fuller says hi.

Yes, Fuller does play 3 sports. I don't think he is better than Hightchew in any of them with the only one that might be close being football. But there probably aren't many that even play three sports, especially the traditional 3 of football, basketball and baseball. Max Nussbaum and Cameron Vocke do football, basketball and track. Nussbaum is a very good baseball player as well but is now doing track. Who else even plays three sports?

Thinking back to the past for great 3 sport players, Frank Jacobs comes to mind but I am not sure he played 3 sports. He was great in football and baseball and I think he played basketball.

A lot of kids grow pkaying three sports or more. Once in high school most drop down to two or even one.

At high school things get more serious and kids make choices that usually lean towards year round football. My son is in the middle of this choice now. He is a soph that started varsity football. He is playing basketball now but feels like he would be better off in the weight room prepairing for football. Due to this he may not okay baseball, which he has been playing for 9 years. He is a good player in all and could do well in all if he decided to play all. He seems to be leaning towards doing better in one rather than good in three.

I think a lot of kids these days are doing the same so the three sport player may soon be a thing of tue past.

He was a good hoopster, but Baseball and Football he was all that and then some.

Jeff Erhardt, Dixie Heights class of '89. Football, Basketball & Baseball.

Going back a little further, Bob (Butch) Herbst, Dayton High School class of '60, 4 sports, football, basketball, baseball & track (Dayton didn't even have a track, they ran at Bellevue)
