Well, in this world you gotta give something to get something. If the Reds want to win now, you have to make a sacrifice. The Cubs weren't going to give up a top notch LH reliever with a wicked breaking ball for a case of Big Leaguebchew and a fungo bat...

I've seen some rumors about Corcino, but don't really know. I disagree about Wood. I think he'll turn out to be a very successful pitcher. Only time will tell who is right.

How many of you are still going to like the deal if Daniel Corcino is one of the minor league players?

I'd be beyond shocked if he was. Walt should fired immediately.

How many believe that Chapman will end up in the rotation? Wasn't the plan to stretch him out in Winter ball which failed due to injury? I think he'll end up in the pen again.

 

I heard Jocketty say after the Latos deal that the plan is still for Chapman to start. He said Chapman is in Florida working with trainers to strengthen the weak spot in his arm and get geared up to start.

Who cares about 3-4 years down the road right now? Why can't some of you just be happy and excited that they're trying to win now, instead of the normal, "3 years from now is our year" garbage?

 

Wood will NEVER amount to anything more than a servicable #5 man in the rotation. This is a good deal even if Marshall is only with the Reds this year.

I am happy that the Reds are trying to win, I just hate to see them trade Wood. Theo Epstein definitely needs to hire you. He's going to look like such a fool for trading for Wood. If only he had talked to you before hand, I'm sure he would have NEVER traded for a young pitcher that will be just a serviceable #5 man.

The Cubs had to move Marshall. With the new CBA in place, he would leave after the season and they'd get zero draft picks in compensation in return. If they wanted to get anything at all for him, they had to trade him. Even some Chicago guys are saying they could've got more for him than Wood.

Yep, it's been mentioned on several sites I read, and I'm positive that Theo still sees Wood as a lot more than a serviceable # 5 guy.

^He very well may. I doubt it, but I've been wrong once before (). Still doesn't change the fact that the Reds traded their #7 starting pitcher for one of the (arguably) best 2-3 LH relief pitchers in the game. They're trying to win now. I could care less about what their rotation or lineup is going to look like in 2014-15. JMO.

I'll remember this post when Wood is winning 15 -20 games every year for a NL Central rival, and Chapman is out of baseball.
