I'm not a huge fan of giving up Sappelt but we got one of the best relievers in the game.

He's a good reliever. I don't know that I'd call him one of the best in the game. I mean I wouldn't put him in the top 10 or anything. I don't think I would have given up Sappelt and Wood for a setup man for one year.

^ He was rated 3rd best reliever in baseball in terms of wins over replacement. But I agree it seems like a lot for 1 year of a setup man.

He's unquestionably one of the top 3-4 relievers in the game the past two seasons.

Sappelt was definitely expendible IMO. I didn't see him figuring into their plans in any way.

Sappelt is nothing more than a 4th or 5th outfielder...

Are you talking about just set up men? I can think of a lot of closers that I would rate over him. Who is he going to set up for the Reds?

It would make more sense if they had an extension in place.

I'm talking about non-closers. Relievers and closers are two seperate positions. Even incuding closers he's #3 in WAR.

This.

Torreyes looks like a pretty solid prospect.

He may be, and he may turn out to be nothing. He's 19, atleast 3 years away from even sniffing the big leagues and drastically undersized.

^HT, who cares? Why are you guys so darn caught up in what this team is going to look like 4 years from now?

People were complaining about how they are always "building for the futue", so they decide to go for the win now, and the same people are still complaining. Makes no sense.

You guys what? I said I was on board with this multiple times. I was just stating my thoughts on him.

Sappelt and Torreyes were the Reds' 20th and 22nd best prospects, respectively.

Every teams fans overvalue their prospects. Sapplet is an extra outfielder at best. Trading spare parts for key components is a good thing.
