December 11, 201114 yr Mack and Bobinski have clearly started they will let the A 10 determine what the punishments will be. Mack said directly in that quote he is "not in position to be a decision maker". Really? Come on Clyde. X has botched this as bad as possible from top to bottom. They are pretending to be at the mercy of the conference instead of making their own decisions and rightfully putting the discipline in their own hands. And for the record if Mick cowers from his strong post game stand I will be first in line to blast him for being all smoke and no fire. X is saying point blank that taking action is not an option in house. That is BS any way you want to slice it... I saw "we'll address the situation." What do you think he means by that? X botched it by letting hot-headed kids get behind a mic. No question. If they do NOT do anything then we can bash them. Since that's still a TBD it would be prudent to wait before jumping on them.
December 11, 201114 yr What does "as is" mean? You either continue it or you cancel it because you're afraid of what else might happen. If that's "as is" then cancel it. We've had one ugly incident in a long time. I'm not canceling over that. There has been an "ugly incident" 4 years in a row. Today was the worst of the bunch, but the other incidents happened as well. Maybe your memory is going bad with old age...
December 11, 201114 yr I do not think there is a need to shut down the game. Same, do the right thing and handle this situation the right way and it won't happen again.
December 11, 201114 yr There has been an "ugly incident" 4 years in a row. Today was the worst of the bunch, but the other incidents happened as well. Maybe your memory is going bad with old age... I guess we have different definitions of "ugly incident." Born Ready jawing at X's bench isn't an ugly incident even if did result in someone else getting in his face. I guess the headbutt counts so we have 2. Not enough to cancel in my book. Refs just need to be stronger and nip it early.
December 11, 201114 yr Has Bobinksi been quoted? Yes. Told Shannon Russell it was a situation to be handled by the conference....

Again, this is all based on what GT says, and he's reliable IMO.
December 11, 201114 yr Both teams' actions were inconceivably moronic. I am glad that both UC and XU made up my mind today about whether or not I should root for them come tournament time. It's simply too good for the Cincinnati area (where I am from) for me to have not rooted for them come tournament time in past years. This incident made that decision much easier tonight for this year's team. Tu's words after the game were simply abysmal. It is legitimately hard for me to grasp the sort of ignorance that spewed out of his mouth. Thugs? Gangsters? There was enough to go around both benches today. No longer can XU play the "Goody Catholic School" mantra, nor can UC play the "We're Really A Bunch Of Misunderstood Players" wrap. True colors were shown, and, personally, I'm glad they were. What a joke.
December 11, 201114 yr The incident with Freese happened at the 3:20 mark of this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zF6fL2urgYQ
December 11, 201114 yr ^ Tough to really see what happened. He looks like an idiot, though that's for sure.
December 11, 201114 yr Really embarrassing for both Universities. I feel bad for them. Should be interesting to see what Mick actually does. Gates may not suit up again. If it were up to me, he wouldn't. Since #13 enjoys kicking so much, I'd definitely kick him off the team, too. Kicking a guy that is down is just plain gutless. To me that is the most embarrassing thing done during the fight. Tu, you got that upset over a Facebook/Twitter posting? I have news for you. Grown men do not act like that. Children do. Personally, I don't think your gangsta self or your gangsta friends should be in college basketball, period. Regarding X's coach and AD. Why was the team allowed to come back out on the court? That makes no sense at all. You condone this behavior? All it did was allow Freeze, who was a victim at that point, to join the rest of his team and act the fool. He deserves what ever discipline law enforcement hands out. It's obvious his coach has no intention of enforcing any.

December 11, 201114 yr Didn't read through all 4 pages but I think its funny how a lot on here all putting the blame on UC and calling them thugs when it was Holloway and Lyons running their mouths the entire game and even cussing at uc coaches at the end...you wanna talk classless, that's classless. Also, watch the video. Mick was trying to call a timeout before the incident happened and the ref ignored him. Refs are #1 to blame for this. Both sides were extremely wrong and I condone none of this, but... 1. When Tu and Guyn were jawing, none of that even happens if Wellz doesn't come in and blindside Guyn and push him down. 2. Holloway says they have "gangstas" in their lockerroom, but yet UC are the thugs?? 3. Watch the video...BOTH teams threw punches and Ellis had both Wellz and Lyons coming at him throwing punches at the same time...but again I guess that gets overlooked as well, right? 4. What yancy did was unacceptable but let's not crucify the guy. While both teams threw punches, he just happened to get the best shot in. Also, didn't see any video but heard Sean Kilpatrick got "sucker punched" as well by an X player. Bottom line is this... Both teams were wrong and THE PLAYERS INVOLVED showed a lack of class but let's not call one team thugs when the other team was doing twhe same things. Tu and Lyons comments in the presser pretty much summed up their character....as well as their coach. Mack is the head coach but says he doesnt have control over suspensions when asked about it?!? YOU ARE THE HEAD COACH!! Now that shows a lack of class more than anything. Atleast Mick stood up like a man and accepted the responsibility for his players actions and said he will hold them accountable, outside of what the league has to say. The following players should all be suspended for their actions: UC- Gates (minimum 10 games), Mbodj (7-10 games), Ellis (3-5 games), Guyn (3-5 games) XU- Wellz (5-10 games), Lyons (5-10 games), Holloway (3-5 games), Redford (1 game) Those are all the players that threw punches. I know there were 2 more bench players for X that threw a punch at Gates but not sure of the names. Wait, what? Tu is a thug...I mean gangsta. He'll get suspended. However, he isn't 6'9 270 and throwing a sucker punch that lands a standing eight count, combined with a throwing of another punch....Lyons from Xavier actually tried to calm him down. Sure Xavier was probably barking at the UC bench, but the one UC player jumped up and came after Tu at the intermission. Xavier has botched a lot of things post game forward. They are taking a let's wait and see approach. Holloway and Lyons should be off limits to the press for a long time. Cronin on the other hand is essentially throwing out empty threats. You think he boots anyone from the team? I highly doubt it. He has let Gates get away with too many things before, and ultimately ends up relying on him. I would be shocked if he booted him.
