X/UC fight....

Featured Replies

I saw that too, I'm not surprised. UC has always recruited some really swell guys with great attitudes.

And I used to think this way as well but did you happen to listen to the two X player interviews on the postgame? Really, UC's got nothing on those two.

You might wanna read the thread then because plenty of people are saying the same about X players.

Yeah, this was definitely a thread that you couldn't skim your way through.

There's plenty of blame being thrown on the X players.

As far as Gates goes though. Dude is a senior. Act like one. Hasn't Cronin had character problems with him in the past? I've got to think Gates is gone. He didn't just throw one sucker punch, he threw two or three at multiple targets.

What those two said was dumb but come on now!

I'd love to see what the UC players would have said if the UC SID was dumb enough to let them come out for a presser.

Didn't read through all 4 pages but I think its funny how a lot on here all putting the blame on UC and calling them thugs when it was Holloway and Lyons running their mouths the entire game and even cussing at uc coaches at the end...you wanna talk classless, that's classless.

Also, watch the video. Mick was trying to call a timeout before the incident happened and the ref ignored him. Refs are #1 to blame for this. Both sides were extremely wrong and I condone none of this, but...

1. When Tu and Guyn were jawing, none of that even happens if Wellz doesn't come in and blindside Guyn and push him down.

2. Holloway says they have "gangstas" in their lockerroom, but yet UC are the thugs??

3. Watch the video...BOTH teams threw punches and Ellis had both Wellz and Lyons coming at him throwing punches at the same time...but again I guess that gets overlooked as well, right?

4. What yancy did was unacceptable but let's not crucify the guy. While both teams threw punches, he just happened to get the best shot in. Also, didn't see any video but heard Sean Kilpatrick got "sucker punched" as well by an X player.

Bottom line is this... Both teams were wrong and THE PLAYERS INVOLVED showed a lack of class but let's not call one team thugs when the other team was doing twhe same things. Tu and Lyons comments in the presser pretty much summed up their character....as well as their coach. Mack is the head coach but says he doesnt have control over suspensions when asked about it?!? YOU ARE THE HEAD COACH!! Now that shows a lack of class more than anything. Atleast Mick stood up like a man and accepted the responsibility for his players actions and said he will hold them accountable, outside of what the league has to say.

The following players should all be suspended for their actions:

UC- Gates (minimum 10 games), Mbodj (7-10 games), Ellis (3-5 games), Guyn (3-5 games)

XU- Wellz (5-10 games), Lyons (5-10 games), Holloway (3-5 games), Redford (1 game)

Those are all the players that threw punches. I know there were 2 more bench players for X that threw a punch at Gates but not sure of the names.

Walter, everyone on both sides have blasted Tu and Cheeks so don't play the victim card.

Redford 1 game? For what?

Sunday morning conference call between the schools and the two conferences. Conferences are looking to the schools to be strict. If not, they will.

X is doing nothing to help their perception in this. The players, coach and AD have all been putrid in taking responsibility for what happened. Passing the buck to the conference to hand out punishment is pathetic.

Chris Mack.

"I'm not in a position to be a decision maker. We'll address the situation and see what our conference feels is necessary."

Sad...

As a fan, I would hate to see this game go away. But after hearing GT's comments about some kind of physical altercation taking place for four straight years, perhaps that's the way to go.

Does it help if you move it to a neutral floor each year? Or would that even make it worse?

Why does he have to make a statement saying what he's going to do?

Why do we have to know what he's going to do?

Why do we not let him watch the film and see what happened?

I'd shut it down before I'd go to a neutral floor.

Probably the best thing to do. A shame, but the best thing to do.

I do not think there is a need to shut down the game.

I would also say that Mick has boxed himself into a corner.

While his tough talk is impressive and it sounded really good if he doesn't back it up with dismissing the two big boys then it's just lip service.

I'm not a big fan of knee-jerk reactions. I'll take the "we'll review it and 'address the situation' approach" every day. 20 minutes after a brawl is never a good time to make a declaration.

I do not think there is a need to shut down the game.

I don't think you can continue as is. Not if what GT said is true.

Mack and Bobinski have clearly started they will let the A 10 determine what the punishments will be. Mack said directly in that quote he is "not in position to be a decision maker". Really? Come on Clyde. X has botched this as bad as possible from top to bottom. They are pretending to be at the mercy of the conference instead of making their own decisions and rightfully putting the discipline in their own hands.

And for the record if Mick cowers from his strong post game stand I will be first in line to blast him for being all smoke and no fire. X is saying point blank that taking action is not an option in house. That is BS any way you want to slice it...

I don't think you can continue as is. Not if what GT said is true.

What does "as is" mean? You either continue it or you cancel it because you're afraid of what else might happen. If that's "as is" then cancel it.

We've had one ugly incident in a long time. I'm not canceling over that.
