From my estimation there were roughly (95) first round football playoff games played across the state of Kentucky.

 

Of those, I counted (45) games that were decided by 40 POINTS OR MORE.

 

So, roughly 1/2 of the games were decided by essentially the running clock score.

So, roughly 1/2 of the games were blow out games.

So, many teams drove a couple of hours each way to get beat by more than 40 points.

So, the football season stretchs into December and cold, bad weather so we can have 50% blow out games in round one.

 

No way does the KHSAA have policies in place for the best interest of the student athlete.

I wonder just how many games last night could have reached 100 points if a team wanted. I bet it would be staggering!

 

KHSAA, stop handing out ribbons to every Jimmy and Joe and a Mary every now and then!!!

Agreed...get down to 3 classes and play some football.

Best interest of the athlete...hmm. I always say any Friday night with HS football is better than any Friday night without it. My team didn't get to play last night, but I sure wish we could have.

How does a team go winless and still make the playoffs? Really...Come On Man !!

It's easy for the people who are always a contender to say change the play-off situation. Those people who make the play-offs as a #4 seed gain valuable experence from going to a play-off game. Plus they get to practice a week longer towards the next season. I think it should stay as- is.

Same thing happens in basketball, volleyball, baseball and softball. I assume you want those sports' post season changed, too?

Don't know what the answer is but eliminating teams from the playoffs is not the answer. Are there lopsided games? Yes, but there is an basketball as well. There were some mismatches in week 1 and this week the games will get better

Get down to 3 classes..let everybody in, but make the matchups closer together logistically....then it would be like the other sports mentioned.

As long as there is one upset in the state(I know of at least 3 last night) the playoff setup does not bother me at all. Neither does six classes. I'd rather everyone get in than a deserving team not make it. We spend all year long waiting on football and now you guys want to end it a week early. :lol:

Basketball doesn't leave no one out and has no classes.

Someone please tell me what good Nelson County and Simon Kenton (among other outclassed teams) got out of their trip to the playoffs.

I do not like the playoff system right now but it sure is fun when a #4 seed upsets a #1 seed like Boone Co. did last night against Madison Central.

Boone was probably the "best" #4 seed in the state and them beating Madison Central really wasn't an upset.

 

Do we have the KHSAA to blame or is the KHSAA just doing what the majority of members schools want done?

Maybe someone should ask the #4 seeds and see whether or not they liked the experience.
