E-town finishes the seaon 0-11 after losing to Bell County 66-0. I'm sure the kids from E-town will say that was an experience they'll never forget. Coaches as well. Since KHSAA has the final say, I'll give them the blame...

And I would argue #4 seeds didn't get it done during the season and have no business in the playoffs.

I continue to shake my head at this thread subject. I really don't understand what the problem is with an open playoffs where virtually every team in the state gets a chance to win a title. Wasn't there a state champion in the last few years that entered the playoffs as a #4 seed? I know Simon Kenton made the title game as a #4 seed recently. So what if there are blowout games in the first round? What is the problem with that if that is what it takes to give every team a chance at a title? Despite this being an annual thread subject and usually the subject of multiple threads every year, I don't recall one post by a fan of a team that was blown out in the playoffs complaining because they were allowed in. The ones complaining seem to be fans of successful teams who win blowout games. Why is that?

That is because the overwhelming majority of what could be termed as fans of those teams don't give a you know what because their team is terrible. I think you are actually making the point you are trying to disprove.

Hmmmm ... interesting paradigm shift. However, I am not going to assume those getting blown out in round 1 are 100% apathetic. There are fans on here of teams that were blown out in round 1. None of them have posted to complain about being in the playoffs and getting blown out.

6 classes is way to many for the state of Kentucky.

Get down to 3 classes..let everybody in, but make the matchups closer together logistically....then it would be like the other sports mentioned.

 

With 4 classes you would get a good set up for two rounds of playoffs - 3 weeks each (spare me the grumbles about the additional week - just drop the 'off week'!).

 

222 (no. schools) / 4 (classes) = 55 or 56 per class. Expand 'districts' to 7 teams across the board. 8 districts per class (8 x 7 = 56). Set up playoffs around 8 teams brackets (3 rounds). Districts winners of the 7 team districts get a bye the first week for wining the district. Blind draw the rest. Play that round. Then take the district winners and blind draw for the State Tournament round. Again, classic 8 team, 3 week brackets.

 

This would greatly reduce travel from the current set up. The logistics of the 6 classes has made travel far worse than before with teams 2-3 hours apart playing blow-out games. Its broken.

I dont like 4 teams getting in, however, there should at least be a minimum amout of wins for that 4 seed to get in. I don't know the stats but i doubt any 4 seed that had less than 4 wins won a game last night. As far as fans of winning programs being accused of doing all the complaing, speaking for myself, as a fan of a winning program, No, i dont like these games its just an opportunity for a player to lose focus and get waylaid and be lost for the rest of the playoffs due to an injury!

Keep 1A and 5A like the current 1A and 6A.

And, as Purple Pride commented. So long as there are a handfull of #4 seeds pulling upsets each year and the 2-3 seed ballgames being great (as many of them were last night), then I say that is enough reason to allow 4 teams from each district playing in the 1st weekend of November.

Play the first round on Tuesday and the 2nd round on Friday or Saturday of the same week.

Montgomery Co over Cooper was a 4 over a 1. The potential for a cindarella story is worth every team being given a chance imo.

Someone who is inside the KHSAA said that going to 6 classes was supposed to 'help travel'. If they really, really thought that they need some lessons in geography or geometry or both.
