Obviously I have no say in the matter, but I am vehemently opposed to going down to just the top two teams in districts getting into the playoffs. I am not opposed to tweaking the current system but taking it down to 2 teams per district is too far.

The KHSAA could spend some time and research other states and try to get some ideas that works for them and in plant those ideas that do work in Kentucky. Its all about the kids!

 

Might be a better idea than to keep listending to coaches who maybe more self motivated that what is the best interest of all.

Don't forget that the KHSAA used to have the first two playoff games intra district like the other sports mentioned, but certain folks whined so much the KHSAA reluctantly changed it to inter district. Hence the further distrances in the first two playoff games.

 

That was for two years. The KHSAA playoffs have been cross-district every year since 1959 except for 2006 and 2007. The KHSAA tried it for a two-year period and then went back.

Heck, my team is one of the few that didn't make the play offs this year. We would have loved to have had another game, though it likely would have been a blowout.

 

If people don't want blowout games, how come they aren't complaining about regular season district match ups that lead to blowouts? I really wonder the football situation of the fans that are complaining.

 

Well here we go again. :lol: Its playoff football, I understand there are gonna be blowouts. To me there is no validity of a winless team being in the playoffs.

I'm glad that someone thinks Ky's system is logical and almost entirely fair!

I believe it needs to stay the way it is. What I think needs to change is the game days. Stager the games on Friday and Saturday nights or something. They would get more fans to a lot of the games and I would prefer to see more of them. Prob should be another thread.

Play the first round on Tuesday and the 2nd round on Friday or Saturday of the same week.

My only thing is either let all teams in or restrict it to the top 3 seeds in the district. To have only a small percentage sit out just doesn't seem right. I like the idea of a bye for the top seed and/or a play in game for the bottom seeds.
