I know PT is a fine player and I am in NO way taking anything away from him, but you must admit that his surroundings are much better than ZP. Agreed? They are both fine QB's as evidenced by both making it to the Elite 11 finals.

I'm surprised they didn't have more. However, both had long runs called back by holding penalties.

Pike has consistently been a higher ranked QB than Towles and this is from alot of people who did this for a living. He certainly doesn't have the plethora of coaching or surrounding cast that Towles has, but, his potential is certainly high. Because Towles is a UK commit, doesn't mean he's better. Actually being an Auburn commit would say alot more, if anything.

Congrats to the Beechwood D! They made some great plays. #2 with 2 pick 6s. #44 with a pick. #14 with a pick. #45 was unstoppable until he went out with an injury.

#40 had a good night too. They all played well. Nice team effort against one of the top QBs in the nation. Play as a team, win as a team.

The first drive by Dixie was impressive. Most of the work being done by Pike and Cohorn. Pike was yelling at his line during the first quarter of the game. Pike also was getting into it with one of the receivers during the 2nd drive (#9 I think). That kind of behavior should never be tolerated. You can't be much of a team when this is happening.

 

Why Doesn't Dixie have any depth? For a 6A school there has to be some other athletes that can marginally replace Bruns or Justice. Do the Dixie coaches prepare for "Plan B" just in case someone gets hurt or do the coaches only focus and develop their top talent? It just seems that the skill level fall off is huge after the first group.

The Pike commentary SOOOOO old and annoying. People complain about Pike, his emotionalism and immaturity, and then I see the same immature emotionalism by those complaining or ripping him. No doubt Pike has brought a lot of this upon himself but come on people, grow up. Anyone who watched that game on the field and didn't see a very talented QB isn't paying attention or doesn't want to say anything good about the kid. I am not saying he was perfect by any stretch. In fact, the short out passes ... not good. But he had a number of throws in that game that very few QB's can make. I remember one long pass in particular that was just a beautiful throw perfectly on target to a receiver who was very closely covered. Like I said above, Pike single handedly kept that game close in the first half. Take him off the field and that game gets ugly very early.

 

As to what Pike will do at Auburn, who knows. The competition at a program like that is at the highest level. If he doesn't start there or gets moved to a different position, it wouldn't be the first time a highly touted QB went to a BCS D1 school and didn't start. Top rated D1 QB's transfer out of programs all the time because they end up not starting. If he does become the starting QB at Auburn, there are going to be a lot of posters on this site looking pretty silly.

Why cant we just e happy for both Towles and Zeke? Nobody likes to see a kid perfom bad regardless of whatever he may have done in the past. Kids need to learn from their mistakes and mature. Im sure many HS kids would give their left you know what to have the talent and opportunities that Zeke and Patrick have right now.

 

Dixie obviously is suffering on Defense and you cant win games if you give up a lot of points.
