The Pike commentary SOOOOO old and annoying. People complain about Pike, his emotionalism and immaturity, and then I see the same immature emotionalism by those complaining or ripping him. No doubt Pike has brought a lot of this upon himself but come on people, grow up. Anyone who watched that game on the field and didn't see a very talented QB isn't paying attention or doesn't want to say anything good about the kid. I am not saying he was perfect by any stretch. In fact, the short out passes ... not good. But he had a number of throws in that game that very few QB's can make. I remember one long pass in particular that was just a beautiful throw perfectly on target to a receiver who was very closely covered. Like I said above, Pike single handedly kept that game close in the first half. Take him off the field and that game gets ugly very early.

As to what Pike will do at Auburn, who knows. The competition at a program like that is at the highest level. If he doesn't start there or gets moved to a different position, it wouldn't be the first time a highly touted QB went to a BCS D1 school and didn't start. Top rated D1 QB's transfer out of programs all the time because they end up not starting. If he does become the starting QB at Auburn, there are going to be a lot of posters on this site looking pretty silly.

My commentary is more an issue with the coaches. They have done the young man a disservice by not demanding better from him.

I agree it's with the coaches as well as the parents. He gets away with way too many things. Hard to root for someone that doesn't do it right.

Agreed but also hard to do when Pikes daddy is likely a huge financial contributor to the school in general. I may be wrong but Zeke could have played for a better team in NKY and he stayed at Dads alma matre. Coach may have his hands and tongue tied due to pressure from the school board.

Pike has consistently been a higher ranked QB than Towles and this is from alot of people who did this for a living. He certainly doesn't have the plethora of coaching or surrounding cast that Towles has, but, his potential is certainly high. Because Towles is a UK commit, doesn't mean he's better. Actually being an Auburn commit would say alot more, if anything.

It is not even close how much better Towles is than Pike. Towles has improved a ton and Pike has regressed in my opinion..Towles could play at any college in the country if he so chose. There are a ton of big time colleges still recruiting him trying to get him to switch. He is a life long UK fan and that is why he verbaled so early in the process..I personally wish he wouldn't go to UK but that is his choice..

Why cant we just e happy for both Towles and Zeke? Nobody likes to see a kid perfom bad regardless .

Sadly, you are incorrect.

How could he have played for a better team in N Ky if he lives in the Dixie District? Within the KHSAA rules I guess he could have gone to SK or Scott with their open enrollment.

I meant his family could have moved to the Ft. Thomas District at some point during his schooling. :thumb: Can you imagine having Zeke as a big TE target for Towles?

About being happy for both?

No. It was in regard to the "nobody likes to see a kid do badly" comment.

Does Anyone Know when Bruns and Justice will be back? Also Is Pike hurt that bad or was it just his feelings from the pick 6?

Not scoring after Beechwood's botched snap on the punt was the changing point in the game. Beechwood ripped off a ~90 yarder on the first play after that stop.

Dixie's defense was absolutely horrible. They cannot tackle, and they have no speed. All Beechwood had to do was hand the ball off and stand back and watch Vocke and Nussbaum do their thing. I'd be surprised if Beechwood had over 50 yards passing.

Offensively, they had no running game with Bruns and Justice out along with one if their linemen. Pike had a very bad game. His deep balls were way short, resulting in a couple picks, and he continued to force things, which resulted in more picks.

He actually lives in Scotts district.

I also seen Vocke getting smoked by Cohorn when Vocke was lined up man on him. No contest there. Cohorn was way to strong off the line to get seperation on him. Cohorn might not be as fast as Vocke, but he had his way with him. I give Vocke credit, he's one heck of a back on offense, but Cohorn had his way with him.

My favorite play in the game as a Beechwood fan was Nussbaum's 90 yard TD run. Nussbaum showed his speed by smoking Cohorn in a foot race for the end zone, even though Cohorn had the angle on him. If I recall, on that series Beechwood had a Vocke TD run called back for holding. On the next play Beechwood had a nice run that again was called back for holding. It was 1st or 2nd down and 30 or so at the 10 and Nussbaum takes it to the house on a running play up the middle.

I was watching those two all night and you are way off. He did burn him once for the 2nd deep ball when Vocke tried to press him at the line and Cohorn when straight through the bump and right past Vocke. The first deep ball was a scramble, so not a one on one burn. Other than those two plays Vocke had him put on an island...

I guess that's why he finnished with almost 170 yards on about 8 cathes. It must have been Cohorn's Island then

Yet I don't see him in the box score. I think that means Cohorn was contained.
