Madaris is a big Physical receiver almost like a hybrid WR/TE. Having Oliver in the line up could have made a difference (especially on the seond play from scrimmage where her caught a 70 yarder over our back-up's/back-up, but he lit X up for 200+ yards. Quick seems to score virtually every time he touches the ball from all over the place. He is probably more effective closer to the line of scrimmage than Madaris. Both are evtremely talented, no way to really compare them exactly.

Will these players be ready Friday night? Who is injured/out for St. X?

 

Alex Mattingly and Ryan oliver are both starting and playing Friday. Joe Tobbe(starting lg); Garrett Underwood(starting ss) are still out. All in all X pretty much has its full lineup.

With their brutal schedule how has T held up this year so far?

It looks like I am in the prediction thread a little late. Oh well, here is my prediction. Trinity wins 42 to 7.

After reading the history I'd like to change my prediction.

 

50-7 (Rocks go for 2 late).

 

Agreed! Just read through some of the comments and I will change my prediction. Trinity wins 49 to 3.

I was impressed on the 2ns td pass that he took a simple square in and turned and went the distance. X played a lot of" no safety" defense against Moe completely taking the run away. The last TD was under a minute and I thought they were going to take a knee. One play fake later and it was a 38 yard TD. Moeller's back up is more of a drop back passer than their starter so we saw how good Madaris can be.

I hate this game, and love it at the same time. Many times we've come in even and lost, come in favored and lost....vice versa.....that said, we're certainly the favorites. It's my opinion that we haven't played at our best since Elder. I venture we'll come in very fired up....can we contain those emotions? No telling. Did I say I hate this game?

On that 10yd curl route that Madris took the distance, the backup linebacker missed the tackle.

1966? I was there. It is one of my favorite Trinity - X games and a good reason for Trinity fans not to get too confident. I believe that the Litratings had X as about a thirty point favorite in that game. It as an 18-7 Trinity win.

I have a feeling the crowd will be down. I say there will be less than 30,000 in attendance. There just doesn't seem to be the usual buzz. Hope I'm wrong.

Yeah I remember that one. Johnny Meihaus and Paul "Ears" Young weren't too happy that next week at practice. Started a run of three straight "X" wins. In '67 Steve Ising returned the second half kickoff for a TD that broke open a tight game into a 34-12 Tiger win at Manual Stadium. The next year Ron Steele intercepted a pitchout intended for Alan Hennessey and returned it for the winning TD in the last minute of a 19-12 Tigers win over Trinity's first State Championship team. This was the first game in the series played at the Fairgrounds and the crowd was close to 20,0000. The following year St. X defeated Trinity 12-6 on their way to an unbeaten season. This team ranks near the top of the Tigers' all time best teams. They hold the significance of never trailing an opponent the entire season. Not many teams can make that claim. These games became the foundation for the series as it has evolved today as it became the game everyone planned to see in the Louisville area for years to come. There were a lot of great players on both teams in these days!
