September 19, 201115 yr If I'm the SEC, I would favor Missouri over West Virginia, even if it would cause some geographic issues. Still, someone from the ACC (Clemson, Florida State, Georgia Tech) would make more sense for lots of reasons.

The BCS, expansion of bowl games, Big 10 Network, etc. put the wheels in motion.
September 19, 201115 yr Would TCU be a decent option for the SEC? With the carving up of the Big East, I can easily see them moving elsewhere at this point or staying in MWC... And they would bring a lot (at least athletically) to the conference. Opinions?
September 19, 201115 yr What is crazy is the Big East will have teams WEST of the Mississippi and the Atlantic Coast conference could have teams from Texas ... and the Big 12 has 10 teams and the Big 10 has 12.
September 19, 201115 yr I think that Virginia Tech and Missouri both make more sense for the SEC than West Virginia. I don't think you go after Georgia Tech, Clemson, or Florida State because you already have teams in those markets. You don't have teams in Virgina, Missouri, or WV so if you are going to expand it makes sense to go there.
September 19, 201115 yr They don't bring a power TV market, they do nothing to increase recruiting footprint and they will struggle to stay above UK and Vandy in the football standings. That and just wait until SEC fans make the trip to always hospitable Morgantown. I see zero benefit in adding WVU in terms of making the conference stronger... Where do they stand academically compared to the rest of the SEC? I never here them mentioned as being a great school. Doesn't mean they aren't, just don't know.

September 19, 201115 yr Hopefully Louisville will join the ACC. The only chance I think that the Big East has now is to tell Notre Dame they will either have to join the conference in football or they will be out of it in basketball. The big east should go after Missouri, Kansas State, and as far as basketball goes (which kinda negates my first point) they should ook into Xavier and/or Temple. However, with Syracuse, Pitt, and UCONN going to the ACC, there is no question now what conference will be the toughest basketball conference.
