By looking at this, you can see that UC and UL are not particularly attractive schools for the Big 4 conferences. Saw some speculation tonight that UC and UL may end up in the revised Big 12.

By looking at this, you can see that UC and UL are not particularly attractive schools for the Big 4 conferences. I'm not following the statistical breakdown of this data. Observation alone leads me to the conclusion that there is NO WAY Georgia Tech can count 600,000 more fans than UGA. A brief glimpse at financials for the two schools leads to the same conclusion. This sort of statistical analysis is almost useless. While being in Atlanta might put Ga. Tech at a perceived advantage, those people still have to watch the games or care about them in some way. I don't believe that's the case and it makes this sort of data useless when looking to forecast ratings numbers. Also pointed out in the comments... Rice has more fans than Houston (I'll eat my hat), Temple has nearly as many fans as Louisville (I'll eat my shoe), and Boston College has more fans than Florida State (I'll eat dirt). September 20, 201115 yr ^ Would Iowa State, Baylor, Missouri, Kansas and Kansas State have the clout to "absorb" the Big East? I have my doubts. Come to the Big East, kids; we play fun basketball and the name is just better. Also, this "TV Deal" they speak of with Fox... WHAS has better broadcast quality than those awful Fox Sports Net broadcasts I see every weekend.
September 20, 201115 yr Author The Presidents in the ACC just tacked on money for a buyout for conference members. That total now stands at 20 million dollars. I suspect the SEC will make a run at one or two of those schools. I think the Big East goes as a stand alone hoops conference, which may very well include Notre Dame. UL and UC to the Big 12.

After that? Holy cow! However, the BasketBulls could use a break on their side of the sports world.

Even still, isn't part of the reason for the Big XII exodus a group of schools trying to get away from Texas' unilateral TV maneuvering that gave them a massive financial advantage? Who wants to be in a conference with Texas? When the Big East formed, it was about getting like-minded schools together to improve their branding and the competition. What does Louisville have in common with Texas? What does Pitt have in common with Florida State? To my mind, the ability of of a group of mostly urban universities to band together in order to enhance competition with each other was a great thing. Louisville and UC stand to be terribly overshadowed in a conference with large state universities and it doesn't strike me as a good thing at first glance.
