Football wise it UL would be able to use the "We are in the SEC" right now that is the ONLY advantage UK has.

 

Basketball wise UK doesn't want to have to play this game two or three times a year. UK is more concerned basketball wise than football wise. I don't think they should be worried.

Even still, isn't part of the reason for the Big XII exodus a group of schools trying to get away from Texas' unilateral TV maneuvering that gave them a massive financial advantage? Who wants to be in a conference with Texas?

 

When the Big East formed, it was about getting like-minded schools together to improve their branding and the competition. What does Louisville have in common with Texas? What does Pitt have in common with Florida State? To my mind, the ability of of a group of mostly urban universities to band together in order to enhance competition with each other was a great thing. Louisville and UC stand to be terribly overshadowed in a conference with large state universities and it doesn't strike me as a good thing at first glance.

With respect to football, both programs are historically terrible. Trying to measure one against the other is comedy to me.

If UK is truly the only thing keeping Louisville out of the SEC, then that is not only a shameful little exhibition of cowardice but also a huge chunk of revenue that UK is denying a state school.

 

Frankfort should be putting pressure on for the inclusion of Louisville, similar to what got Va Tech into the ACC, but I doubt they would do it.

No, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. I, for one, am not looking forward to becoming the UK of the Big XII. And we wouldn't even enjoy the basketball hegemony that UK has in the SEC.

Overall, it's better for the state of Kentucky. Will the legislature act in the best interest of the state?

UL would add zero TV sets to the SEC's market...I'm struggling to see why they would be a good fit.

It wouldn't. It adds zero value to the SEC.

And here's what I meant by cowardice:

 

If Louisville goes to the SEC and has, say, three years out of a decade of competing for a divisional title and actually wins one once every ten years or so (tough, but modest enough) then there will be no excuses left for UK not achieving the same.

 

Barnhart might have to follow Brooks' advice and actually invest in their program. Horrors.

The ACC increased their buyout to 20 million. That's a chunk. How many ACC schools do you poach at that price?

 

Mizzou currently and forever desires to be in the B1G, not the SEC.

 

And word is ringing around the Big East that WVU was rejected. Any Big Blue insiders have word on that, by the way?
