That's not the only thing. They are trying to get aTm back in the fold...

I hear on Satelite Radion Texas AM will stay in the Big 12. (Only if the TV deal gets approved)

 

TCU is out based on Texas not wanting them in.

 

UL will be left out becuase they are saying they are going to stay with 10 teams.

 

Now I will say this is all based off what I am hearing from the radio. I know nothing or no one that is in the know.

Crazy if true ... just goes to show you that Texas has their own best interests at heart, certainly not those of the league.

^ If the last few weeks have shown us anything, it's that NO SCHOOL is interested in the health of their league if it isn't also what they think is best for them.

Texas wants 10, OU wants 12. More programs want 12. Not hard to $ee what the i$$ue i$ there.

Adding BYU to a conference like the Big XII can be tricky. They have the no games on Sunday policy, which can be tough for television (not so much in football but other sports). Just something they'll have to think about. On the plus side, you get a solid athletic program with a really large national fan base.

This whole Big12 spat is like a husband (Texas) and wife (Oklahoma) arguing all the time, then threatening to get divorced and contacting lawyers and then going to counseling and reuniting. Then they do it all over again.

Then the rest of the league is like the kids. Torn and confused, some fed up, some hoping for reconciliation.

One kid (Texas A&M) is 18 and has moved out.

The rest of the family and some are twins and are doing everything to try and keep the family together. One sibling (Mizzou) is about fed up but options are limited, but could bolt at anytime, and some think should.

 

Then again, this league is simply, as Clay Travis states, the Titanic and Texas is the iceberg.

 

I highly doubt A&M will go back. Their fan base has overwhelmingly wanted this for years and they got a small taste, and it was taken away, which increased their desire even more to where it finally came to fruition.

 

Missouri is in a pickle. They either bungled the whole Big 10 issue or something just didn't work out. Now they had a chance to jump to the SEC and again may have cost themselves by not jumping.

 

All of these so called agreements that people are throwing out there are not true or half truths. Okie pres said there was agreement on the a 6 year deal, but other presidents say that is not the case. Then now the Big 12 has hired a commish who was instrumental in recommending quite a few AD's at respective Big 12 schools. It is simply a mess.

 

The Big 12 is not stable at all. I can see why UL and BYU might want to make the jump, but their landing will be precarious. I just don't think the Big 12 is going to last.

 

The SEC is looking for new territory and that could have been Missouri, but its not likely to happen and they may have blown their chance. The SEC will look east and try to tap into Virginia or North Carolina, with possibly FSU as a potential candidate.

 

FSU is one of the few schools that argued against raising the expansion fee. This is interesting.

 

I still think that VPI and NCState are targets.

 

Louisville and metro schools like that are of no interest to the SEC. I think Jurich knows this and that is why he is trying to hitch the Cardinal wagon to the Big 12 even though one of the four wheels is about to fly off.

UK blocking UL admission into the conference is a fallacy.

Barnhart told Jones he wouldn't rule out vetoing Louisville, so I guess it's not too ridiculous.

If it ever got that far, I'd imagine UK could veto like UGA would with Tech, and UF with FSU and so forth.

It will never get that far and UL has never been on the SEC radar. So the whole veto idea is just talk.

 

Sounds like Missouri is still in play.

 

This is all about new markets and footprints and the fertilization of the launch of the SEC Network.

If it happens, what does Pitino do? He's been very vocal about how to fix the Big East (which I believe is a major waste of time). By doing this, he's pitting himself directly against Tom Jurich. Does Rick hang it up or stay for 2-4 more years?

Pitino and Jurich are on the same page. One is playing the front man to allow the other to work as behind the scenes as possible. It isn't like UL or Pitino are Big East lifers...
