Highlands 35 Boyle County 14

Featured Replies

I agree w/ Wireman, the Highlands TD at the end of the 1st half was huge. Boyle was eating up clock with long drives while Highlands was scoring in a minute or two of actual game clock. I came away very impressed with Towles.

Oh, and it was great to see old friends and meet new ones as well. Nice meeting Guru(thanks for the BGP gear, it will be rocked hard....my wife is mad I didn't get her a shirt...whoops), Watusi, Admiral, Leatherneck and Wireman as well as seeing Rebel and Rebelstat as well. Thanks for the tailgate Guru, much appreciated. I would have loved to have met more Highlands folks. I'll see you guys soon.:thumb:

Great job Birds on the win!

I don't believe Jac C has played a down since Frosh year. I'm curious how the receivers looked for the Birds and who played.

My thoughts on the game.......

*First off.....congrats to the Highlands faithful You guys have a nice squad. Well coached and definitely more athletic than you guys look. Very solid in all facets of the game. Very classy to take a knee at the end of the game but had you ran it in for the score, I personally would not have been mad at all. You ran it all the way down the field, didn't throw one pass and you ran off the last 7 minutes of the game. Punch it in. The defense should stop you. Classy move though. :thumb:

*Did Jac Collingsworth play? I was thinking he was #5 and I didn't see him on the field I don't think.

*#7-Carter New? is niiiiceee. He is fun to watch. I believe he ran back the 86 yard(110 yard) int and it was an impressive run. We thought he stepped out and then he hopped over the kid and was gone. I was very impressed. He had a nice int later on as well. I like that kid.

*Towles is everything that was said about him. I tweeted I think I may still like Bolin better but we'll see. QB's like Towles and Bolin are a treat to watch. I like Towles a lot. I haven't seen a kid with his size run the way he runs and then that cannon of his also:scared:.........great combo. I'll see him again.

*Devon Cox ran the ball good as did Zach Hester. Our passing game needs work. We had a bad case of the dropsies on 3rd and long four times in the first half. That will be fixed though. Cox was cramping so bad he couldn't walk after the game.

*I am truly not worried or discouraged. We made a lot of fixable mistakes.

*I really didn't think the refs were that bad. As always they probably missed calls on both sides but our mistakes hurt us more than the refs.

We'll be all right. Congrats to Highlands and I hope to see you guys again.:thumb:

Sheehan looked really good at receiver. Very quick. None of them dropped any passes I don't believe either. They made some nice receptions along the sidelines also. Very aware of where they were on the field.

Man did anyone see #7 after he scored on the INT. He came into the back of the endzone so fast that when he got to the fence he collided with a guy ( I heard it was his dad) and split the guys lip. It hyped up him, his dad, and the rest of the team I think! classic moments like that make me love the game even more..And this happened right beside me. lol. and I hope his mouth is ok. But I know he will cherish that moment..

Yeah, I know I'd cherish that moment.

I almost forgot.......

Highlands fans were dead on about two way players. Our guys wore out and I noticed that we even had a lineman going both ways as well. They wore down and it was plain to see. I spoke with a player after the game and he mentioned that playing against the fresher Highlands players wore him out. We have to develop some depth somewhere and we already aren't deep enough to recover from an injury to a starter.

Hester for Boyle County is a MAN!!!!

Can anyone name this celebrity who was spotted at the game tonight?

Looks like Anderson Cooper.
Looked like it was going to be one heck of a game but the last minute drive at the end of the first half was a back breaker...

I agree Wireman. TD pass to McCoy was a thing of beauty with 12 ticks left on the clock.

Standing on the sideline the only thing that May have been any question was a play that looked to be a backward pass that was called a int. pass. All in all it was a good game and you have to give the BlueBirds credit. They played a good game and have a very impressive team. The Towles kid is the real deal and they have very good receiving core. I am not worried about my Rebels, French will have them improving every week. Now some stats for the game.

BC

66 plays

247 yards total

17 1st downs

3 Penaltys for 11 yards47 rushes for 193 yards 2 tds

5 of 19 passing for 54 yards and 3 picks

Highlands

63 plays

412 yards

19 1st downs

10 penaltys for 105 yards38 rushes for 210 yards 3 tds

12 for 25 and 202 yards 1 td

Now you tell me who was getting homered..These could of been the worst bunch of officials I have ever see. PATHETIC!! I mean it was bad....real bad.

ihigh game announcers said Boyle was basically robbed of momentum by the officials. They said "what comes around goes around in November." Said Highlands wasn't called for alot of penalties and played some dirty football.....I thought it was classy of Dales Birds to take a knee. Bird turnovers and penalties at inopportune times potentially cost them a couple more scores......I thought it was a hard fought game by the kids on both sides and didn't see alot of what the announcers claimed was terrible officiating.

From the looks of the penalty stats , the home team had all the refs "home cookin " ya think ? Anybody with game tape take a good look at coach Meuller , he was extremely upset with the officials . Never , have I ever seen him so upset and I've known him since high school . When was the last time Highlands had ten penalties in a game ?

As far as Highlands playing "dirty football " , it didn't happen , and , I was at the game. Drake bruns was laying the wood on Boyles recievers , but nothin dirty. (Maybe that's why Boyles recievers were droppng passes ? )Wackem , what game were these announcers watching , it doesn't sound like the one I was at.

Boyles program and fans are great . Two elderly men actually came out of their way , after the game to tell me what a good program Highlands has , just shows that they are great fans with class.
