Its something off the Mighty Ducks
It has been around a lot longer than that Movie or Sports franchise . We were calling the Highlands faithful " cake eaters " when I was in high school and I am 64 so it was around at least 50 years ago .

At one time in the 60's and 70's Beechwood was also known as the "cake eaters". Don't know if that's still true.

It was a joke

And generally it is derogatory. It's a snobby rich guy.

I'm pretty sure this is where it comes from, not from an actual event in recent history.

I think it comes from the story of a princess who was told that there was a great famine in her land and people were dying due to a lack of bread. Her answer was, "Let them eat cake." Cake was only available to the rich and royal, but she was so protected and oblivious she couldn't understand why the peasants didn't just eat cake instead of bread.

So, a cake eater is one who is snobby and so stuck up they aren't even aware of the "bad side of life."

All the above is simply an explanation, not a description of people from Fort Thomas. As a matter of fact, almost all of my interaction with true "cake eaters" (those born and raised in FT) has been positive.

Well, at least we are no longer talking about the refs and a few misguided fans.:D
