Obviously. That still does not take away from 7 hour games taking place.

I had never thought much of it until a couple weekends ago I went to a AAA game in Nashville and it was suspended at midnight. The crowd was relieved.

That was the worst call I've ever seen at the MLB level...but...the Braves won so he was clearly safe to me.

I've seen replays and photos. No doubt the tag was made.

I keep hearing the argument that "the games are too long" in support of keeping instant replay out.

 

As a fan, I'd rather see the game last another few minutes and have indefensible calls like this one rectified. But that's just me. I'm retired and don't have to be anywhere the next morning.

And how much time is spent by a manager arguing a call? I would think it can be time neutral. You just have to pick the spots on when replay can be used and when it can't. Do like football and give a manager the option for a couple of review requests per game and that should control the time.

I don't understand how anyone could say definitively that he was tagged from the angles provided. The ump was right on top of it and like VOR said, when the ball beats the runner they're usually automatically out.

From the pics and video nothing is definitive. The ump had a better view than any pIcture or vid will ever give us. Pictures can be very deceiving.

Let us be honest here, the ump was ready to get out of there and he thought it was a lot closer of a play than it actually turned out being. I am not sure he realized how far he away he was when he originally slid. When taking in to account the "human element", this poor guy has been calling balls and strikes for hours, no end in sight, and he is looking for the first opportunity to get this game over with.

He was so clearly out that I'm not even sure how anyone can argue. This is one of the worst calls in the history of Major League Baseball.

I think once the game goes past the 12th inning, the umps should rotate clockwise on the field.
