Was Jerry Meals' blown call in the 19th the worst call you've ever seen to end a game? Just where did he have to be at two in the morning? Watch Lugo make an effort to tag the plate once he is called safe. Even Lugo knew he was out.

He missed the tag. Not a blown call. Saw several replays on Sportcenter this morning.

Lugo was the most surprised guy in the stadium.

Seems like its kinda hard to tell if he brushed the leg or not.

Do guys that don't want expanded replay because of the human element own black and white TV's and use walkman's that play CD's?

It's not as cut and dry as it should've been given how far the throw beat him by, but it does appear like he might have brushed his leg right at the beginning. But from the ump's angle, I can see how it would look like a whiff. It was a bad way to end a 19 inning game.

Does MLB need to go to a rule like they have in the minor leagues where they will suspend a game once it hits midnight or a certain inning? I have always thought they should. Pick the game up at that point the next day or later time.

Which would have been great for the umps to see before the game was officially over. The technology is already in place at the stadium, but they aren't allowed using it by rule because it wasn't a HR ball. Does Selig know this is 2011?

So is the "human element" which baseball people love. I just think it opens itself up to situations like this. Not to mention having to turnaround and potentially play an early afternoon game. I do not want the product compromised. I will say it is entertaining when they have to go deep in to a bench and place outfielders on the mound.

That is about as bad as it gets. If that play happens 10,000 times in major league baseball, the runner may be called safe once ... and I guess that was the time. Any time a throw beats a runner by that much in MLB, the runner is out unless it is an obvious whiff. That was a bad, bad call.

I went to bed during the Rays/Red Sox game a couple weeks ago and then the Pirates/Braves game last night. Both times a little part of me hoped to wake up the following morning and the game still be going on!
