Top 25 Movie Soundtracks

Featured Replies

I would like to have seen a breakdown of original soundtracks and soundtracks like Forrest Gump and the Big Chill where it's just poached from the generation.

You mean soundtracks where they actually try to have purpose to the music beyond "and these are some of the tunes you heard on the radio in those days..."?

I'd find room for Visionquest on there someplace. But, that's just me.

I would have thought that one would have come in at eleven.....
Very good and very obscure .:thumb:

The Magnificent Seven

Lawrence of Arabia

Ben Hur

The Great Escape

North by Northwest

:D You definitely would have had to see the movie to get that.

I'm shocked Birdsfan didn't beat me to it though...

I like to buy movie soundtracks with composed musical scores. For instance, I love the scores from "Witness," "The Shawshank Redemption," "Road to Perdition," and "Braveheart."

A lot of the musical scores from the various George Clooney movies, such as "Oceans Eleven," are very good.

I love "The Sting," and of course, "O Brother Where Art Thou."

Some of my favorites: That Thing You Do, Teachers, Eddie & The Cruisers, The Breakfast Club, Pretty Woman, and Fantasia.

Maybe the list would have to be bigger, but I'd try to find room for Valley Girl, Animal House, The Blues Brothers and The Breakfast Club, among others.

"The Good, The Bad , And The Ugly"

I always wondered if the whistling sound in the music from that movie was a person or an instrument.

If it's a person he sure is a good whistler.

Haven't seen Urban Cowboy mentioned. Everything Travolta touched was on fire during that era.

Don't know if I have 25, but I can think of some. Ones coming to mind for me are The Big Chill, The Blues Brothers, Forest Gump, Singles, Great Expectations (1998 version), Pulp Fiction, and American Beauty.

I have a station on my Pandora just for Movie Scores.

:thumb: for Braveheart!

I like "A Star is Born".

I do as well. My favorites are "Apollo 13", "The Natural", "The Hunt for Red October", "We Were Soldiers", and "The American President".
