One notable difference from the Courier-Journal All State team, Josh Harris, 1st team in the C-J, totally absent in the AP. Makes no sense to me.

If you think it's a joke , thats your opinion and you are entitled to it . I don't know if you have kids or not , but if you do , maybe someday they will win an award , and somebody can say that is a joke also !! It's amazing that everytime there are awards given out , somebody like you has to rain on their parade . It's part of life , get used to it .These high school kids and their families read BGP , and I'm sure they don't appreciate your post ! :madman:

I'm not about to declare one a joke over another one.

 

But your personal illustration is true in the Rebel backyard as well. Boyle did not receive any HM or members other than Lamar Dawson. Megilign and Hester both made various teams on CJ.

 

It is, what it is IMO. I think it makes the Rebels 15-0 season that much greater with wins over some teams that sported many AP All Staters.

 

I say congrats to those named. You deserve the recognition for your work. For most of those not named I'm sure they will be glad to relish in their various team's achievements.

The simple facts of the AP All State are: Not many of the AP members watch much football outside of their local team, nor do they keep up with state wide players. Some of the AP affiliates don't even vote. And many of them only vote for their local players. The AP version is always the worst in my opinion.

 

But, the good news is: the All Bluegrasspreps Team will be out soon.

What do kids get if they are selected to the BGP Team?

I gotta give some props to the dreaded Green team of the FTJFL...they got Big Jake Giesler, from NCC, named to the All State 1st team O-line. Hopefully, he'll be on the All State front line for hoops, too!!

They get a very nice certificate to commemorate their accomplishment and many of the media sources print the list.

 

The All BGP Team has 12 offensive players, 12 defensive players, and 12 athlete players. It is truly an accomplishment to be named to the 36 player team.

Being named to the BGP team is no more important than being named to the CJ All state team, AP Allstate team, or the Class of the Commonwealth.
