Thank you VoR for this post.

I don't want to take away from any of these outstanding athletes that made AP allstate but it is really tough for a young man from Greenup County to get some props, I am just very proud he set his personal goal to be the #1 rusher in the state during regular season and he reached that goal, I took the KHSAA quarterly at the first of the year for 2009 regular season rushing title, showed him it, stated if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best, I went in his room the next day and he had #1 from 2009 circled and posted on his wall, he reached that goal for 2010 - http://www.khsaa.org/football/2010/stats.htm and in 4A as well - http://www.khsaa.org/football/2010/stats4.htm nobody was even close , our team didn't reach our goals for the season and maybe that's what hurt his selection status but I have always been told #s dont lie and I am very proud of his season, his work ethic and his desire to reach that goal and reach it for the entire state of Kentucky, it just seems if you are the official rushing title winner for the state of Kentucky you should get some type of recognition for that achievement, maybe I am wrong and my bias is probably playing a major hand on this one due to me being his father, cause I have been involved in this game for 40 years - playing, coaching and refn, know it very well, just a lil disappointed for my son that he didn't even get a smell in the AP... but it is what it is and that's all it is, so be it... Still very proud of his achievements...

That is a great accomplishment and the fact that your son set a goal and accomplished it with the help of his teammates (lineman, WR's, etc) you should be very proud. He is definitely a player worth mentioning if not on the AP rankings atleast here on BGP where the true fans read.

Who do you think should be on,and who would you take off?

Here is one that clearly makes my point - Zach West, OL, Lexington Christian. One of the top ten players in the state, dominating lineman in high school since his freshman year, scholarship to UK and he didn't even make honorable mention. That is embarrassing to the AP.

That's one that really stood out to me. Heck, he was All-State last year, they can't say they never heard of him.

Another one that stands out to me is Tyler Combs OL from Lawrence County, first team CJ All-State, no mention of him on the AP All-State. Combs is another one of the Best linemen in the state with the size and offers to play D1.

Maybe it's time everyone accepts these all-state teams for what they are: uninformed and not accurate at all. People should not get worked up over them or feel slighted. I'm amazed people give them the prestige they do.

a look at recpark's son. Number 33 in green and white.

I am amazed as well. Especially when it is painfully obvious that all regions weren't properly represented in the voting yet people still can't figure out why such and such didn't make it and such and such did.

But, don't we owe it to the players to be their voice and say that it is wrong to not have the entire voting body cast their ballot?

I find it amusing that Cy Williams of Allen Sounty-Scottsville was named 1st team all-state and honorable mention.

He's THAT good.

Did anyone from Muhlenberg South get named honorable mention?

Especially the AP's.

I would like to see people get even more worked up about it. If I were in the media, I would be totally embarrassed that "my all star team" is so glaringly poor. The fans need to call them out on this and tell them to fix it or just stop announcing a team at all.

Yes but my issue is how we go about doing it. There is never any need to call out kids by name saying he shouldn't be on the list. Who gains from that? If my kid made it and someone was on here saying my son wasn't deserving and shouldn't be on the list I would get suspended. You can make your case without calling out kids. If my kid was deserving and didn't make it and it bothered me that badly I would be trying to find out who has votes and who did and didn't vote. People sound like a bunch of homers with Daddy Goggles on and come across as bitter when it has been made known that all eligible voters didn't cast a vote that may have gotten little Johnny on the 2nd or 3rd team. The voters and their votes need to be made public so we can see who is voting and who the uninformed is.

Not to mention, every "all star", "all state, "all American" or "all pro" team from high school to the pros has its flaws. Part of the reason there are so many teams at all levels is because everyone thinks they can get it right.

As for the state of Ky, I still think BGP's team is the best. Maybe everyone else(AP, Courier Journal, etc) should do like KHSAA and give All State Teams to all 6 classes that way everybody can win.

For the most part fans don't really care, so why make the effort to call them out? Most people understand the flaws in the system. It's not like higher levels where there is a good opportunity to actually see the player's you will be voting on.
