Solid post. :thumb: I love match-ups like HHS v. Harlan and JC. The kids on both sides will remember these games for years (as will the parents). IMO, these games are great for KY football. Teams from relatively unfamiliar parts of the state playing each other will only strengthen the programs at both ends.

 

 

My 83 year old mother still talks about a Highlands vs. Belfry game in the 60's.:idunno::lol:

Highlands jumps off the bus with 100+ kids...I'll bet everything I own that just because they have over 100 kids, Doesn't mean that all 100 kids could play with this Harlan team..

From the looks of this thread, my boys from HC are going to need some 1980 Lake Placid mojo...or maybe some Jimmy Chitwood "picket fence" heroics to beat the unbeatables this Friday. I hope they can keep it close and show the fans of HC and those of HHS that they came to play.

I think the game should be moved up to the old Evarts field so the Birds fans can get some true mountain hospitality.

Looking forward to this trip to the Mountains. Looks like it will be great football weather from forecast. Mid 30's and maybe rain or snow. Put me in Coach, I am ready to play!

I don't know, it appears a fair number think HHS can't handle the weather, crowd, music, trip, dressing room or smashmouth football headed our boy's way. Can't remember when we were such underdogs.

Not saying those kids aren't talented, but it's going to be a tall task for that type of inexperience to stop a team like Highlands and all their depth.

The article didn't say but they have just 8 seniors. Very young team to be taking on a team like the Birds.

 

One of the reasons why I see Highlands winning comfortably.
