You won't get free reign Friday night (Maybe a little free rain). You will not get the red carpet treatment. You'll get dressed in a dungeon under the bleachers that will be wet and cold. Don't worry though. About 20 people can fit comfortably. Maybe your starters and coordinators and head coach can fit in there before the game. The music will be so loud in your ears that you won't like it. If you are lucky the sewage won't be backed upwith its remnants on the floor. Luckily, though if you have to use the restroom there are couple of port-o-johns outside the fence. Just a few things for you to look forward to Friday night. It will not be comfortable and will not be what you have been used to. Have a nice trip. There's no place like home.

 

This sounds like HHS locker rooms. Our boys will be right at home there. Birds Defense is HITTING on all cylinders. Should be great test against HC running game. Question is can HC stop HHS Offense? Birds 35 - HC 14

I love all this talk about how HHS opponents have something to prove and they don't have the "luxuries" that the HHS boys have. The people making these statements obviously have never been to Ft. Thomas and never seen the facilities. Growing up on West Villa in the fort and having a few family members come through Highlands, while also practicing there for the nky all star game back in my day, I can tell these "folks" that everything in Ft. Thomas isn't as "rosy" as they think.

 

Their weightroom is a tiny classroom and the lockerroom is like a dungeon.

 

Birds are as much of a blue collar team as anyone else in the state and they play with a chip on their shoulder...hence why year in and year out they're one of the best programs in the state. This thread is really getting me fired up. Can't wait for Friday night.

Highlands took a very, very mediocre team to Cawood in 1982 and sneaked out with a win. I do recall Cawood had a pretty good running back that had JJ Jude kind of mountain numbers. Any historians, Birdsfan you got your ears on? Go Birds 20n10

It was David Hensley, he was All State that year and a beast. I would say unfortunately he underachieved at EKU. He put on some weight and moved to fullback. I saw him a few weeks ago and he looked like he was 18 again. Man is spending some serious time in the weight room.

When Whitley county hosted Highlands in 2008 their fans showed our kids great respect as the seniors made the "Final Lap." Harlan County fans were also very sportsman like in our previous meetings. But lets face it, the fans will have little input on the GAME! Kids will decide the final outcome. I would like to see Harlan win since they eliminated Whitley County but I think that the Bluebirds will get them. The Field conditions two years ago were terrible, but they were terrible on both sides of the ball and Highlands never missed a beat. Sometimes I think they are like the U.S. Postal Service...neither rain nor snow nor dark of night....yada, yada,yada....you get the point.

Small, but well-drilled. Think of this as a street fight with a free swinging roundhouser vs. a high end blackbelt.

Actually, my understanding is the Hair sprain was healed up by game time and allowed the Birds to go to the air without much trouble. It was the the muddy field conditions that put a damper on the "fleet footed" qb that nite and it wasnt because he couldnt run in the muck it was because he didnt want to get his pretty white shoes dirty. LOL . Go Birds 20n10

What is the seating capacity at the stadium? The HHS website states tickets only available at the gate.
