When Whitley County hosted HHS two years ago, the fans were more than sportsman like. yeah there was lots of talk on the boards but when the game was over and HHS had won the team, coaches and fans showed class. In fact I communicated with several after the game and one player who whipped my son more than once that night became friends with my son when they ran into each other in the off season, and they are still friends. How is THAT for class....

 

It boils down to this.....there is winning and then there are the teams that take it to another level, the ones who win want to take it to the next level and the ones who are at the next level want to defend it, and sometimes feelings get hurt. I know I had my feelings hurt, but distance lends perspective and yes I wish we had won but Highlands showed our team where we need to be, and it was a great experience which in the long run helped and continues to help our team.

 

 

And for Gosh Sakes its only a football game.....

Just like UK, Duke, North Carolina basketball, Notre Dame, Alabama, Florida football, etc., a small but vocal minority of fans over a number of years paints a picture of an entire fan base that is not so flattering. I suspect if you base your opinions on actual interactions with fans rather than "anonymous" postings and reputations, you will get a better read.

Yes.

I can assume most of the HHS fans are classy and I aplogize to those that are. The few select ones on here have alsanted my view. I'm heading to Harlan in a few minutes for Thanksgiving and I hope to see a town ready for a state semi.

NOT GOOD

Cumberland would be a good place to play the game. It would be a lot easier taking 119 up to Cumberland and the field is much better. Not to mention you have a lot better parking and it'd be great to see a game played again at Harold Shrout Memorial Field. It seats about the same as Cawood doesn't it?
