Alas, JBW will not be "in the house" Friday night, as JBW has to work Friday and it's a 6.5-hour drive from Raleigh, NC to Harlan, KY. My parents (who are in visiting) and I do hope to follow the game online Friday night! Go 'Birds!

This should be a great game. Having had the opportunity to watch tape on HC, they are for real. Well coached, nice athletes and speed on O. A defense that swarms to the ball the way Highlands fans are used to seeing. Stong line play on both sides of the ball. I can't think of a better way to spend the day after Thanksgiving than going on a nice drive and watching the Birds accept HC's challenge. Good luck to both teams.

I think that it would be great if jbwill2 would post his Highlands website on here , every week , when playing opponents out of town.

Weather update? Looks like it stopped raining mid-morning and will be sunny the rest of the day. High in the low 40s this afternoon and low 30s for kickoff w/ no precipitation anticipated. Can some Bears fans comment on how much rain Harlan received over the last 24 - 48 hours? Maybe an update on field conditions? Looking forward to it.

 

PS Any recommendations for a great, unique place to eat between London and Harlan? Probably will stop to eat and get the cold weather gear on. Someone recommended the Col. Harland Sanders Cafe (original KFC) but someone else commented that it was just a KFC w/ some memorabilia. (Feel free to comment through the afternoon. We'll check BGP on the phone.)

Weather is very brisk and overcast. I looked at the river and it had no noticable change in color meaning rainfall was fairly insignificant. I doubt there is any significant change in field conditions, should be good for grass.

 

As for eating...Shiloh's in London just off exit 41 is the best resturant on the path. That will leave you about 90 minutes from the field. El Charrito in Harlan is the best close. No alcohol served in Harlan YET. Just passed. Can't really think of anything in between. If it's me....the call is Shiloh. Give you time to digest.

That was a nice write up but it clearly downplays the explosiveness of the Bird passing game. I would look for the Bird WR's to stretch the Bears defense most of the night.

 

Amazing how the Bears are only in their 3rd year of football and playing in the state Semi's. Nice work.

Yes. Although it is now Cawood Elementary / Middle (K-8)
