When Highlands moves down to 4A could it potentially hurt their program?

Featured Replies

Highlands has been so dominate in 5A since KY went to 6 classes what could a move down to a lesser class do to the overall health of the program?

There has to be an overall feeling in Fort Thomas that 4A will be a cakewalk and that can't be good for their program.

Thoughts?

4a is tougher than 5a. I have not head this at all???

5 a next year will be an absolute joke.4a is better for the program because there might actually be competition.

5A in the east for the past 3 years has been a joke. It will be a tougher road to get to the finals in 4A.

I think the competition they'll face will be good for them. Well, the competition they'll face if the programs that are trying to flee from them stay in 4A.

5A hasn't been much until the end of the playoffs lately. Hope they feature some nice non con games.

Highlands actually always finds a way to bring the best out of programs regardless of the class. It doesnt really matter much, teams will realize their fate early on if they dont work their hardest and prepare in the off season. So with that said, it doesnt matter what class Highlands plays in, much like Trinity and St X, everyone brings their A+ game on gameday and plays the game of their lives and struggles in their next against lesser opponents. Heck, I would be surprised if most of the teams that Highlands plays either schedules their bye week before to prepare an extra week or they take the following week off just to rest and mend and avoid the emotional letdown. They can bring their A game all they want it isnt going to work. When will a KY team give Highlands a game? Outside of a Trinity or St. X.

Let's face it, unless you are playing in 6A, all of the classes are weak. Having 6 classes just waters down the classes and they are all a joke. Bring it back to 4 and let's see some more competitive football.

I agree...

I agree as well. It would eliminate some useless playoff games and make it much more competetive. You cant tell me it is fun for anyone to draw Highlands, St. X or Trinity in that first round game, travel all that way just to get whipped like a red headed stepchild.

From rumors i have been hearing if the state allows some teams in 4a to move up then next year 4a will be just as bad as 5a the past couple of seasons.

Yep. A major mistake that the KHSAA refuses to admit having made. Sad really.

Boyle County and Bell County would give them a game this year or even last year, IMO. Hopefully Boyle will still have to stay in 4A but I don't see Boyle giving Highlands a good game in the near future after this year.
