Fort Campbell and NCC at PJCS in the 2008 2A State Title game.

 

FC trailed NCC in the final few minutes of the game: Antonio Andrews hits Tre Powell for a long pass play down the sideline for a TD to seemingly win the game. Penalty called on FC receiver Chris Allen for motion and the play was nullified. NCC fans and players are going wild and getting ready to dump the Gatorade on their coach.

 

Next play from 65 yards out in the final 90 seconds and running out of options, an unflenching Antonio Andrews takes the snap, pitches the ball to JD Erwin who rolls right and then passes back across the field to Andrews. Andrews catches the ball on about the 50 and jukes or out runs the entire 'Breds defense to the house. "Back to Back"

 

That is the best game and final sequence of plays I have ever personally witnessed.

I agree with the 2008 Championship game as well. I would also include:

 

2. 2009 Fort Campbell 28 vs Murray 21 where FC pulled off the improbable last second TD pass.

3. 2007 Fort Campbell vs Paducah Tilghman game where FC won 23-20 with a last second field goal.

4. 2007 Fort Campbell 29 vs Owensboro Catholic 6. This was their first game as district opponents and it was one season removed from FC being upset by OC in the Regional game. A huge win by the Falcons to get the "OC monkey" off of their back.

5. Not the best memory, but a heck of a game was the 2005 FC vs OC playoff matchup with OC winning 28-25.

6. 2009 Lone Oak vs Boyle Championship Game. What more could you ask for in a championship game then two teams battling it out in double OT. Unfortunately one team had to lose.

7. 2006 FC vs Trigg County. FC was down 21-0 at half and came back to win 28-21.

Recently, Highlands vs. Cincy St. X.

 

There are really many for me. Alot of the Highlands vs. Cov. Cath. games.

Best atmosphere for a high school game I've ever attended!!!

I cant believe no one has mentioned this one but, Michael Bush vs. Brian Brohm in the state finals was a game I was lucky to be on the sidelines for. It was crazy!!

That was a top shelf game.

 

My other personal favorite was NCC coming back unbelievably on Danville in the 2A state championship game on 12-1-2006 winning 37 to 34.

NCC scored THREE touchdowns in the last 7 minutes of the game to win. Never seen anything like it. 2 great coaches and programs going head to head and the Thoroughbreds were better (and luckier) that day.

Add in Price and they had a very strong backfield. They, unfortunately, also ran behind one of the smallest lines in NKY their senior year.

Dang, guess I jumped the gun!

2002 - Trinity -vs- Male - title game, Trinity holds on 59-56 as they intercept a ball near the goal line with less than a minute to go. There was over 1,100 of total offense. Both teams were nationally ranked, and it lived up to the hype in every way. I was very fortunate to be on the sidelines for this one.

Both Cov. Cath - Highlands games in 1982/83.

I still hear about them two game, I think they had leather helmets and no facemask at that time.

Easily the best game I have ever witnessed is the 2002 - Trinity -vs- Male - title game

Honorable Mention for me was a game in 1980 or 81 (so long ago I cant recall but I was a little feller back then). Mayfield comes from 20 down in 2nd half to upset Ft. Cambell. People left at the half and then returned to see the ending. FC was defending state champ as well if my memory serves me correct

1983 Cumberland vs Beechwood Chapman takes kick return 95 yards for the Cumberland win as time expires.

The regular season game against SK and Conner was just as good as the playoff game. If I remember correctly, didn't Conner score twice with less than 2 minutes in the game to win it?

 

The regular season was much better for the fans of the Cougars. Probably the only SK game I've left before the clock struck zero, and I have mixed feelings about leaving that night. I wanted to beat the crowd and for some reason didn't think the Cougars would come back to win. Once I heard the crowd erupt and the band play I pretty much knew they had scored and then recovered the ensuing kick. Once I got home I turned on ICN6 to check scores and I still thought ICN must have made a mistake.

 

Now the playoff game, that was a different animal. It was a virtual highlight reel, Miles scoring then West and his crew answering the call. I thought when SK went up by a few TDs I still had reservations, and Conner stormed back. It was so cold that night, I remember after the game we went to the SK sideline to warm up. They had one of those high powered heaters, and it ended up burning a hole in my buddy's glove and shoe.

 

I forgot about the NCC/Danville final, that was an awesome comeback for the Breds.

Trinity/Male in 2002 is absolutely the best game I've ever seen. Too many highlights to recount. Amazing offense, but a defensive play sealed the deal. One of those nights where it seemed like everyone left wowed.
