Male beats Manual in back to back seasons with Male's kicker hitting field goals. Beating X in 2006 and my son throwing a nice block on the last play of the game and his career, and losing to the Rocks when time ran out on third down playoffs also 2006.

'97 Mudbowl between CCH and Highlands. Instant classic.

A few years back, Mason County and Rockcastle County had a couple of real slugfests. They were very good games, and proof that not every great game has to feature a hundred points put up on the scoreboard.

 

2003 Class AAA playoffs; Mason County 21 Rockcastle County 19. The big monster that played for Rockcastle (and I think went on to UK; was his name something like Leger?) left it all on the field, but Mason prevailed.

 

2005 Class AAA playoffs; Rockcastle County 20 Mason County 19. Last play of the first half saw Mason get the ball to the Rockets' 1; almost a repeat at the end of the game. Royals needed another second on the clock at the end of both halves.

 

Two classic games.

1. 2009 4A state championship game between Boyle County and Lone Oak.

2. 1987 state championship between Danville and Mayfield (Danville blocked an extra point in OT to win it).

3. 1993 semi-final between Danville and Prestonsburg (Danville was stopped short on a 2 pt. conversion in OT which ended their chance to win 4 titles in a row).

4. 2003 regular season game between Danville and Highlands. Danville broke a big play late in the game to get a big win.

Recently, Highlands vs. Cincy St. X.

 

There are really many for me. Alot of the Highlands vs. Cov. Cath. games.

 

The Highlands vs. St. X game was a classic. The manner in which the sophomore Towles stepped up at qb when Bardo went down spoke volumes for the Bluebird program. The 2006 regular season Highlands. vs. Cov. Cath. game (at Highlands) is hard to beat for last second drama. The Bluebirds scored in the waning moments of the 4th quarter to seemingly pull out the victory. The Colonels drove the field and scored on a fade play in the end zone on the last play of the game.

2006 Southwestern vs. Louisville Central Regions Championship Game, 47-40

Bob Allen Pigskin Classic 2005 Rockcastle vs. Corbin, 2-0

Fort Campbell and NCC at PJCS in the 2008 2A State Title game.

 

FC trailed NCC in the final few minutes of the game: Antonio Andrews hits Tre Powell for a long pass play down the sideline for a TD to seemingly win the game. Penalty called on FC receiver Chris Allen for motion and the play was nullified. NCC fans and players are going wild and getting ready to dump the Gatorade on their coach.

 

Next play from 65 yards out in the final 90 seconds and running out of options, an unflenching Antonio Andrews takes the snap, pitches the ball to JD Erwin who rolls right and then passes back across the field to Andrews. Andrews catches the ball on about the 50 and jukes or out runs the entire 'Breds defense to the house. "Back to Back"

 

That is the best game and final sequence of plays I have ever personally witnessed.

Although I didn't like the final score I have to agree with you that this was a doozie of a game .

The 2006 NCC - Danville class 1A Championship game was a good one too and I liked the outcome better .

1996 3A Playoffs- Conner beats Cov Cath 29-28. I think Bill Samad rushed for nearly 300 yards after rushing for almost 300 the week before against Greenup County.

I think he has the second most rushing yards in school history, many of them coming his junior season when they made it to the third round of the playoffs.

The regular season game against SK and Conner was just as good as the playoff game. If I remember correctly, didn't Conner score twice with less than 2 minutes in the game to win it?

Ballard Memorial 33, Bethlehem 28

2009 Class 1A Playoffs

The visiting Bombers jumped out to a 27-7 lead early in the second quarter, only to watch the Eagles storm back and take a 28-27 lead midway through the fourth quarter. Ballard Memorial responded with the game-winning drive on a one-handed Tye Prince TD catch from Alex Mallory with 1:20 left and closed it with a clinching interception.

 

Nelson Co. 14, North Hardin 13

In this 2009 tilt, it was a win-or-stay-home situation for both teams, as the loser was odd man out of the playoffs from 6AD2. A defensive struggle most of the game because of muddy conditions, the homestanding Cardinals appeared cooked after the Trojans took the lead by recovering a muffed punt in the end zone with a little more than three minutes left. Nelson QB Daniel Mudd, in his first career start (and with his team switching from the spread to the option that week), piloted a seven-play drive capped off by a 6-yard TD pass, then kicked the extra point to win it.

 

North Laurel 26, Madison Central 23 2OT

Jaguars make a goal-line stand in double overtime in 2005 to upset the Indians behind Shawn Asher's 3 TDs, snapping a six-year (I think) streak of domination over district opponents in the process.

 

Pulaski Co. 82, Waggener 68

2003 Class 3A Playoffs

My details are somewhat hazy, but if I'm recalling it right, Pulaski came back from something like 21 points down behind QB Cole Draughn's 300-yard, 6-TD rushing performance. To boot, he added another 300 yards and 3 TDs passing. Future UK player Alfonso Smith also had a huge game for Waggener, with more than 200 yards rushing and multiple scores on the ground and in the return game.

2007 Class 6A State Championship

Just an embarrassment of great plays and huge moments. Tim Phillips was a monster.

 

Bethlehem 27, Ft. Knox 22

(It's fresh in the mind, since I've been talking about it all weekend, so you get more on this one ...)

One of the most amazing fourth quarters, and games, I've ever seen. Defensive struggle for three quarters with Bethlehem scoring just before halftime to take a 7-6 lead, and visiting Ft. Knox starting to seize control after getting a TD+2 to go up 14-7 late in the third.

 

Early in the fourth, Ft. Knox is getting ready to ram in a touchdown to go up two scores when Michael Kelley picks off a pass at the Bethlehem 17. Four plays later, Kelley recovers a muffed punt on the Ft. Knox 13.

 

Sophomore QB Jordan Cooper (who threw a TD pass for his team's only prior score) raced to the left corner on a 5-yard TD scamper a couple plays later to tie it at 14, then put his team in control with about four minutes to go on an electrifying 56-yard TD run, breaking off numerous tackles and spinning off a few more.

 

Ft. Knox still has life, though, as Brandon Franklin makes a desperation 28-yard completion that was tipped by two Bethlehem players (one of them Cooper) as well as the intended receiver before falling into the trailing receiver's hands, then tosses a 24-yard strike to set up a go-ahead two-point conversion and seemingly the win with 15.4 seconds left.

 

But Ft. Knox's excitement bubbled over too much, resulting in a flag and an ensuing kickoff from the 25. Cooper returned the kickoff inside the 40, then threw a hail mary strike to Clay Owens to win it as time expired. Absolutely incredible.

2009- Boyle County-13 Bell County-10- 4A State Semis. I never thought I had seen a better game in person until........

 

 

2009- Boyle County-42 Lone Oak-39- 4A State Finals. Easily by far and away the best two games I have ever attended.

 

I didnt make the championship game... so Im going to have to go with the state semi game. Amazing game.

Boone County beats Dixie in the mud to advance in the 4a playoffs.

 

Dixie goes to Trinity and comes back with a win only to.............see above!
