Most Bluebird fans are extremely excited about this year's team and are looking forward to seeing it all come together next week. With that said' date=' I believe that the stadium will be[b'] filled to capacity.[/b] There is alot of talk about whether or not this team is for real. I believe the stands won't just be filled with Bluebird fans. There will be alot of other communities represented as well just to see what the 2010 package looks like.

I don't think so my friend. Others will come, but it won't be near capacity. Have you been to regular season games of late? There will be little if no students there. And the ones who come out for the big regular games like Cincy St. X and CovCath won't make this game. Just doesn't happen anymore. Wish it did.

It will be a war, I just hate how it always turns out the lesser team that day will cite it's a "scrimmage."

Uuuhhhh, because it is a scrimmage.

I thought the kids have represented well in past years, but if you say so....As for the others, I have to disagree. It is not often that you get to see two of the top 5 teams in the state play in your backyard. You're going to see alot of interest in the outcome of this game. You can bet that Ryle, Cov. Cath and others will be keeping an eye on this one.... This game will be a hot post game topic across the commonwealth forums as well.

I'm curious to know why you think this scrimmage is a bigger game for Dale and Highlands. Is it because it's a 'home game' for the 'Birds? If it does in fact mean more to Highlands, do you expect Highlands to play harder than Trinity in the scrimmage?

I grew up in Northern Kentucky. I as well as many others never felt like we got much respect from the rest of the state, even in football. When we played a power from another part of the state, we seemed to pull out just a little more. Northern Kentucky is like an island, Cincinnati doesn't want you and neither does the rest of the state. Just the way I always felt.

Seriously? Ok, well then I will get there early when the gates open.

Iam going to go out on a limb and say this is Highlands 2010 Bowl Game. Other posters are downplaying it as a scrimmage or a tune up, but I can assure Dale wants to win and so do the Birds. And with game rules and kicks, why would anyone not consider this a real game. People on here are blasting HHS for weak schedules and so on and so on, this game will be Highlands St. X replacement withou the TV. Both teams will be judged and measured after this matchup. Go Birds 20n10

You are 100% correct. I asked the question last year of "where are all the students" ? Some said the games were boring , some females were having sleep overs at their friends house. Some were at various camps or other venues. It was very noticeable that there very few students were attending Home games . I'm not sure about away games , but pretty sure the student attendance would be even less. I can't believe a boy high school student would even think about missing one of the games. Another reason could be the boys are going where the girls are and it apparently the football games. Somebody needs to look into getting more student support , maybe lowering student admission prices might help a little.

Maybe if Highlands only charged half-price for the girls who attend the game... then the boys will begin attending in greater numbers, kinda like the process of osmosis. That should solve the matter!

Highlands has roughly 400 boys and rougly 120 of them play football. That leaves only about 280 boys. My best guess is the ones that are interested in football actually play on the team.

It's probably a combination of factors. For one thing, the school authorities keep a tighter rein on the students, and don't let them congregate as much.

Yeah but everyone in the state of KY is aware of the fact these two teams want to prove something to each other. You have to go back to what Leatherneck said. It really depends on if the coaches will use it as a regular game, or are they still experimenting trying to figure things out before the season starts. My guess is they will be experimenting. However, after both teams have their first teams out you will hear the ifs, ands, or buts, happens every year in any high profile scrimmage.

Everybody knows that Trinity and Highlands currently share the state record for most official football titles (19 each)...

... but, some may not be aware of how close Trinity and Highlands are in the 'national rankings race.' The USA Today has been putting out their 'Super 25' since 1982. From 1982 through 2009, four Kentucky programs have finished at least one season ranked in the USA Today's final rankings list:

- Highlands leads the way with 5 (in 1982, 1996, 1998, 2000 and 2009).

- Trinity is right on their heels with 4 (in 1989, 1990, 2002 and 2007).

- Clark County has 1 (in 1991).

- Saint Xavier has 1 (in 2004).

When you look at what Highlands' and Trinity's average Super 25 rankings have been (for the years they have been ranked), Trinity just edges out Highlands; Trinity's average ranking has been 14th while Highlands' has been 15th.

When you look at the highest ranking each of these two programs has achieved, it's also very close: Highlands has a 3rd-place finish (2009) and Trinity has a 4th-place finish (2002).

Oh, and one last thing... these two programs have met only twice, and wouldn't you know it... each has won one game against the other.

These programs are very similar on paper.

BTW, I've unofficially dubbed this game the "Best in the Bluegrass Preseason Showdown." If Highlands manages to win, it will then also be known as "The Take-Down in Caketown!" If Trinity wins, it will be referred to as "scrimmage/practice."

There it is. Isn't that a weird fact that the two "superpowers" have only played twice in the regular season, ever? Both schools should be ashamed of this. They are both afraid to play each other.
