July 27, 201016 yr Author The issue has been nipped in the bud. According to ESPN.com Bryant was unaware of any tradition and did not care for Roy E. Williams tone. A talk with Rodney Harrison set Bryant straight about the tradtion. And you actually believe that?
July 27, 201016 yr Blocking for a RB helps you win games. Hanging onto the ball helps you win games. Carrying a vetern pads doesn't help to win games in anyway. True. However, being willing to do the same things your teammates had to do when they were rookies goes a long way to building a team environment. If you immediately put yourself above those who have already played in the NFL just because you think you are all that, .... you are not being a team player IMHO.
July 27, 201016 yr ^ Doesn't surprise me. Handle it in-house. As Barney Fife would have said, "Nip it!"

Hopefully this chapter in young Mr. Bryant's career is closed.
July 27, 201016 yr I'm with UK and MJ...Who cares if he didn't carry the pads? He is there for one reason' date=' to help his team win football games and carrying pads does NOTHING. Maybe one could look at it like he's not going to take any crap from anyone and that could carry onto the field. When he starts slacking off and taking plays off in the game and practice, THEN you would have every reason in the world to criticize him.[/quote'] So he shouldn't have to be treated like every other rookie before him? Is he so far above them that he doesn't have to show a little bit of respect? It is about building a team environment, and if you start off like this, not a good start for a 'team' player.

You show respect by showing up to the facility early, staying late, never taking plays off. Not being someone's personal servant.

July 27, 201016 yr I just read on ESPN Bryant didn't know anything about the rookie tradition and agreed to carry the pads or take Williams to dinner.

July 27, 201016 yr You show respect by showing up to the facility early, staying late, never taking plays off. Not being someone's personal servant. I was going to type a response, but this is 100% correct and I couldn't have said it any better myself. The first time he makes a big play to win them a game, whether it be catching a TD or making a big block, then none of this will matter. If he starts slacking on the field and doing his own thing, then he deserves all the criticism in the world. But there shouldn't be this much of a fuss over him refusing to take a vets pads.
July 27, 201016 yr Maybe its a cheap one too and he actually gets injured for a few days and can't work with Romo and the rest of the offense. That's a great way to gel the team and make them better. He is not a team player anyway...

July 28, 201016 yr Yeah, but Suh would just carry the pads, he's a good kid. I would be surprised if Suh didn't. He seems like a team player and is willing to earn his spot. I don't Dez cares about anything but his self image.
