Track the Reds (2nd Half, Week 3)

Featured Replies

Rats jumping off the Titanic. Always brings some comedy after every loss...

You keep making fun of posters with your "sky is falling" after every loss stuff. However, the Reds are 27-27 since May 29th, that's 2 months of .500 baseball. Do you think that .500 baseball will win the division or the wild card? It doesn't appear that the Reds are going to make any moves at the trade deadline so how are they going to turn it around?

I really don't care either way. I just get a kick out of the bi polar reactions from either side when the Reds win or lose.

This team is a year ahead of schedule, and I will enjoy the race as much as my 6 day old little girl will allow...

I agree that they are a year ahead of schedule. I also think they are a .500 club that had a hot month and has hung around due to the Cards being average as well. The NL Central is by far the weakest division in baseball so perhaps a .500 run the rest of the way will do it. The NL Central leader would be in 4th place in the AL East....Congrats on the addition, they sleep a lot when they're little so you should have plenty of time to keep up with the Reds.

Take a look at these numbers by the Reds starting 3 in the outfield for July:

Gomes- 22/92 or .237 BA

Stubbs-19/85 or .224 BA

Bruce-18/92 or .196 BA

Better? Debateable. Hotter? Definitely.

Not better by any stretch. Just have the Reds number late...

You mind explaining how the Braves aren't a better team than the Reds? Seems to me that the Braves have more depth, a better pitching staff and bullpen, better manager, and a good overall lineup. The Reds are good but I don't get how you all think they are actually better, please elaborate.

What's the Cardinals record since May 29th?

What's the Cardinals record since May 29th?

I believe it's roughly 29-25, that of course includes that 8 game winning streak they recently had.

Francisco Cordero stats by Catcher:

R Hernandez: 25.1 innings, 17 earned runs, 6.04 ERA, 15 saves. 5 blown saves (75%)

Hanigan/Miller: 21.2 innings, 4 earned runs 1.66 ERA, 12 saves. 1 blown save (92%)

^ Interesting. Those numbers aren't even remotely close.

Do the Reds still lead the national league in the majority of offensive categories?

When you have a closer that is afraid, you don't have much of a chance. He won't challenge anybody, and I'm sick and tired of seeing Choke O losing games for the Reds.

You are dead on with this.

That's why I was asking if .500 ball the rest of the way could get the Reds into the playoffs. The Cards have been just as average and the division as a whole is the weakest in baseball, I have to think that at some point one team will put together some kind of a run and seize the advantage.

Do the Reds still lead the national league in the majority of offensive categories?

Probably so. They have a lot more power but outside of that I believe they are similar in every other category.

I said it eight weeks ago. It is time to relegate Choke O to mopping up. Give the chump no more relevant innings. Let some combo of Andrusek(sp?), Arthur, and Massett finish games in the 7th, 8th, and 9th. I'd have more faith in 41-yo Russ Springer, or TV talk show host Jerry Springer for that matter. Hell, I bet Yoko (Ono) has bigger onions than Coco. He is such a wuss. Instead of challenging hitters with his stuff, he nibbles on the outside like I would with my 70mph heater. Enough is enough. The fact that he is being paid $12 million a year is mo longer a good reason to leave him in there to put wins in jeopardy(which he always does) or to lose games. Anyone with me?
