Personally I have a little trouble feeling too sorry for this woman. She will now make the talk show circuit and have everyone fawning over her. My best guess is that she will come out much better off then she was before this all started.

Oh for crying out loud and then Keith Olbermann should apologize every night on his show for saying for years how many days it was since the last President declared the mission was acheived. He is a clown and Ms. NBC should be ashamed to have him do ANYTHING for them. He is a terrible reporter-certainly not a journalist-and to say that he is even slightly fair is unkind to the word fair. He is a very unhappy man.

 

Is he lying when he says that? I think it has been that long since "mission accomplished" he also talks about how many days the oil has been gushing in the gulf and has slammed the Obama administration for the response.

 

You need something better than this. This does not rise to the level of the Brietbart video. It is not even close.

On Fox this morning they said Brietbart did release the part of the video of her saying she had changed, but it seems that was not mentioned by anyone. That includes Good Morning American, at least the segment I watched today.

I am reminded of an old story that went something like this:

 

A young man spread a story about his neighbor that he knew was not true. He couched it in half-truth and when he saw what his story had done to the individual, the man was moved. Seeking a solution to his guilt he visited the wisest man in the village. The wise man told him to take a feather pillow, and on the windiest day go to the hill overlooking the village and tear it open; spilling the feathers into the wind.

 

After he did this, the young man came back to the wise sage and asked, "What should I do now?"

 

The old man told him, "Now go back and collect every single feather you spilled into the wind."

 

"That's impossible!" the young man replied.

After seeing her entire speech in its context, I find it fascinating to observe that whether this woman is or is not guilty of ethnic "racism" she is absolutely guilty of embracing and forwarding "class warfare" between the "haves" and the "have-nots".

 

Whether our public officials judge citizens by their skin color or the size of their bank account, both are forms of discrimination that fall outside of their job functions and what the law allows.

 

I genuinely feel sorry for this woman, but she and all like her who would use their publicly funded positions to discriminate and dole out assistance based upon their personal prejudices rather than what the law specifically allows need to find another line of work.

I have watched. I think she slipped up in her wording while playing to her audience, then recovered. No big deal to me but I ask again, what do you think would have happened differently if the races were reversed? I'm not talking about the message, it was a good one.

She absolutely WAS a bigot. I can't believe everyone is ignoring the fact that this story was related to show where she was in life at that time, and how she's overcome it and feels that it was wrong.

 

One should not be judged on views they held, but no longer hold. The incident happend 24 years ago, and the story breaking now is a retelling of the incident, and what she's learned from it since that time.

 

I guess many of you have never held beliefs, nor done anything for which you may be judged in the future. I certainly hope that you aren't standing at the right hand of God when I get to heaven for judgement. Because I'm quite certain that I'll be turned away.

You can choose to like or hate Olbermann, but show us where he has done something as deceitful as this ...

Is that the FoxNews slant? They, like any news organization, are responsible for what they report. I assume that they have issued an apology to this lady.

 

With that said, I certainly agree that the NAACP and the Department of Agriculture are responsible for jumping the gun and not verifying the information. She is owed an apology by both and her job back.

How does a bright lady like you completely overlook the two main premises of my post (that you linked) where I thought I made clear, but will endeavor to do so here...

 

1.) Whether she is or is not guilty of being a racial bigot... past or present is not the issue.

 

2.) The fact that she may have reformed her "ethnic racist" thoughts, feelings or practices (Hallaleujah... good for her... I'm genuinely serious... yay!) is not trumped by the fact that she STILL clearly espouses "economic" bigotry between the "haves" and the "have-nots".

 

Lady Justice wears a blindfold for a reason. We do not need government servants doling out benefits or witholding the full scope of possible benefits "as they see fit" or according to their particular belief system. Their job is to fulfill the law equally to one-and-all regardless of their particulars... unless those particulars are clearly defined and excluded under their department laws or guidelines.

 

From watching the full video of her statements in context, it appears to me that although she may be a reformed "racial bigot" (Hurray... I really mean it...) this woman clearly was applying her personal "internal filters" with regard to the level and amount of assistance offered to different applicants. How is this remotely something to be overlooked or rewarded?

What about the story of the Obama White House cutting loose a righteous and apparently completely vindicated public servant over what appears to be the fear of negative public opinion eminating from an incomplete internet video and poorly researched justification.

 

Folks can demonize Brietbart all day. I truly couldn't care less, but it seems to me that the real story for an intrepid journalist with a potential Pulitzer looming on the horzon is the "story-within-the-story".
