The FTJFL is a huge part of Highlands' success and I suspect it is why quite a few out of district kids end up at Highlands. But more than that, the fact that kids learn football in a fun way, get coached, get to play in games every week ... no place else in N. Ky. and maybe the state does it that way. I doubt you see anywhere near as many kids quitting football at young ages there like they do elsewhere.

Nice post! I have talked with many that feel the same.

PS. We have some Fort Mitchell boys this year....I am not sure I can work the same HHS magic...:thumb:

Ahh more of that cake town humility it's music to my ears, so free from arrogance or a sense of entitlement... :D

Seriously folks, you guys have a great program and a great school. Just start acknowledging that transfers play a large part in the athleteic successes. I really think that is all anyone is looking for. You never have and never will so why I'm wasting my breath I never know. :isurrender:

Since you acknowledge that you are wasting your breath trying to convince people of something they can't be convinced of, why do you keep doing it? Isn't the definition of stupidity repeating an activity expecting a different result than one that has happened repeatedly in the past?:D

Now this is the kind of stuff that fuels the fires of the misguided haters. I do hope you were just being sarcastic!

Certain posters were getting to me. What I stated was true although I could have stated in a different manner.

Glad to hear it. I wouldn't be surprised if you see more in the future as well. The FTFJL is about as good as it gets for youth football IMO. Maybe we should start a Team Tiger in the league and then call it the youth "fortball" league ... lol.

Certain posters get to me too. I didn't post anything that isn't true or that indicated HHS was doing anything wrong. I get so tired of hearing/reading how great HHS is and how other programs just need to work harder, get better coaching, etc. HHS is a great program, they work as hard as anyone(not more than alot of teams they thump or who aren't as good), they are well coached (not any more than many other not as successful programs in the area). All I am trying to say is yes you are good we get it. However the second someone starts questioning thier scheduling or record against the GCL or X & T, we immediately hear about how is this tiny little school supposed to compete with these huge private schools. It's frustrating to hear some of the HHS fans talk about how every other team in NKY isn't worth 2 cents when any given/most years HHS has kids that should have gone to CCHS, NHS, BHS, DHS, Dixie, Scott, SKHS, etc.

Again I didn't say your program is doing anything wrong but some of your fans that post things like this make it awfully hard to listen to sometimes. Is it really that hard to acknowledge that the amount of quality athletes that choose HHS over their home school is a big part of what makes HHS as good as they are and not superior coaching, hard work etc.? :idunno: If it is :notworthy: :isurrender: :walk:

 The boys come from good families; it is unfortunate that they grew up on the wrong side of the fort. Perhaps a better name would be Fort Sumter team:D.

I made a typo, thats what I meant. If Highlands moved down to 4a then it would be like the old 3a

OK, now that makes sense, and I would have to agree with you.

Can't speak for everyone else, but it really is hard to acknowledge that it is all about some athletes who chose HHS vs. their 'home school."

I just don't believe that a few (whatever number that is) students who transfer in make all the difference in the success. Sure, there have been some of those kind of players through the years, but certainly not every year, and more often than not, not a predominant number of players on the team. It just isn't in the numbers that some estimate.

Lastly, accepting the notion you propose that the major contributor to success is the high number of outstanding athletes who transfer in vs. locals is a recipe for mediocrity. Whether or not Highlands works harder than everyone else around is really irrelevant and hard to measure. As long as they (players and coaches) consistently work as hard as they can (which they do) in all they do, the results will be there.

If I'm associated with one of the bolded schools, I'm sort of wondering why this would be happening. You appear to be a follower of the Camels. Why would parents make the decision to take their kids out of the Campbell Co. school and athletic systems to go into the Ft. Thomas School and athletic system? Keep in mind most of the time this is done well before the kids are in high school.

So assuming CCHS does the same drills, same lifts and puts in the same amount of time as HHS they should see similar results? If not then I guess there is something in the water in Ft. Thomas or the kids there are just naturally better athletes than kids from Cold Spring, Wilder, Highland Heights and Alexandria. I didn't say it was the major factor, but a big one, but if you only get one a year and you can replace a weakest link somewhere that one makes you that much better. I'm done with this because there are too many HHS fans on this forum to argue about this with.

I think it is more of the fact that your the only person with this opinion! :thumb:

You are repeating yourself again.:D

On a more serious note, perhaps I missed it, but I can't recall any Highlands poster ever saying that every other program in N. Ky isn't worth 2 cents, which you claimed in your post. You may be guilty of just a tad bit of exaggeration there. There are lots of very good programs in N. Ky. I know it and I'd guess every Highlands fan knows it. Do we think our program is better? You betcha we do; but that doesn't mean we think every other program in N. Ky isn't worth 2 cents.

The magnitude of transfers playing at Highlands which you keep raising is, in my opinion, also exaggerated by you. You obviously differ from my opinion. That's fine. I know in our past discussions that I have openly admitted that we have received some very, very good transfers over the years that have helped our program significantly. It's just that we disagree on the extent it has happened. So please don't try and make it look like I or most Highlands fans have never acknowledged that we have received some very good transfers over the years. Oh and by the way, while we have had some pretty talented transfers over the years, to try and compare that with the sheer number of players at a Cincy X, Elder, Colerain, etc is kind of a stretch don't you think? Heck, X draws it's players from throughout all of Cincinnati, which is just a little bit bigger area than N. Ky. (not to mention the point that the brand of football in Cincy is better than in N. Ky).

I know it bothers you that we claim our kids out work most other teams kids. How do you know they don't? One could logically ask me: How do you know they do? That would be a fair question back. Take the time to ask some coaches who are familiar with our program and you will find your answer. It will surprise you what they tell you. I'm sure of it because several have told it directly to me. Those coaches have no reason to blow smoke up my skirt that I can think of, since such would be, in legal terms, an admission against interest. In other words, it's a statement made by them that makes them look bad because it's an acknowledgment that they can't motivate their kids to work as hard as the Highlands kids do. But don't trust me. If you know some coaches that are truly familiar with Highlands program, ask them. I have a feeling most will tell you what they have told me.

I'm willing to acknowledge, and have acknowledged in the past (feel free to dig up my old posts and they will confirm that point), that we have benefitted to some degree by transfers but it seems to me that you refuse to acknowledge even the possibility that our kids work harder than most; that our coaches are better than most and that those two factors play a large role in the success we have enjoyed.

Yet you are the one that keeps bringing the issue up, over and over again. If you don't want to argue with all the Highlands fan on here over the issue, don't bring it up over and over again. You'll save the Ru a lot of server space. :D
