Did HHS use a center? I know the last couple years they didn't and it always puzzled me. I think it's a great opportunity to hone the exchange, especially when incorporating a new/different center or QB. Plus it gives a "truer" look/feel for the QB.

Well, lets just put it this way. Alot of folks including myself are saying that HHS is going to be nasty on D and the O will eventually come around. But from the little that I saw today, the O is going to be just fine and they could be the nastys. Give PT 3 seconds in the pocket and he is going to light it up. Could we be seeing another run of the Jared and Gino era, possibly throwing it 40 to 50 times a game and piling up the 3 to 4k yd passing seasons? We will just have to see. I like it when you set the run up with the pass, of course thats coming from a pass first run second kind of guy. Highlands will be tough to defend this yr, Period. 20n10

 

I think this is what we are going to see over the next 2 yrs. I just dont see another Austin Collinsworth in the making but several fast athletic kids who can catch and run. Should be fun to watch.

Beechies did use centers... A shame the rest of the Beechies' linemen were a no show.

I think Coach Mueller wants the centers to work on other things like footwork and technique. When they are snapping they aren't working their feet as much. JMO. It was a pretty good day from what I heard, hopefuly tomorrow will be even better. Please let us know how it goes.

I disagree. If I were an Ohio GCL school or Anderson or Colerain, I would love to play Highlands. They are almost the perfect opponent in the Harbin system because you know Highlands is going to rack up 10+ wins.

 

Bottom line, many other top tier and/or national contender teams are able to find at least a couple of games a year against similar level opponents.

 

But before anyone gets their feathers too ruffled, please note that I have no complaints about Highlands' schedule. I am just trying to point out where fans like History are coming from.

Not that I would EVER doubt the tactics of NCOY Dale Mueller, BUT the footwork/technique of a center stepping as he snaps AND getting the snap back correctly would be imperative to the start of a play wouldn't it? Maybe, he thinks "mis-snaps" would impair the 7on7 flow for the "skill guys". JMHO. 20n10!

Not that I would EVER doubt the tactics of NCOY Dale Mueller, BUT the footwork/technique of a center stepping as he snaps AND getting the snap back correctly would be imperative to the start of a play wouldn't it? Maybe, he thinks "mis-snaps" would impair the 7on7 flow for the "skill guys". JMHO. 20n10!

 

Trust me, the centers are getting plenty of opportunities to work on snaps, footwork and technique with Coach Turner and the rest of the O line down in Death Valley.

I have heard conflicting reports and wasn't there so someone who was there please correct me if wrong. But I don't believe the final score was 5-1. I heard Highlands scored more than Beechwood but Beechwood scored 2 or 3 TD's on offense and picked one of Towles passes off that was or would have been run back for a TD. But take it all with a grain of salt. I am sure both coaches worked in a lot of players to see how they matched up. These 7 on 7's are a glorified practice for the most part so I wouldn't be relying on much of what happens to try and predict what might happen in a real game.

Did you get your information from someone with Scout.com? In all seriousness VOR at one point it was 8-2 Highlands and to answer your question Beechwood's varsity defense did not score any touchdowns on Highlands offense. There was one pick in traffic on about the 5 yard line, but that ball would not have been run back. There were some bright spots on both sides of the ball for both teams. I think the scrimmage was probably a little more advantageous for Beechwood, because I think they got a very good idea what it's going to be like facinga Highlands team who will more likely than not have anybody going both ways. I did try to watch both Beechwood quarterbacks. I thought they were both pretty good. Based on yesterday I didn't see much of a disparity between them.

Any word on how the competition with Anderson, OH went this morning?

Yes it would be imperative but they aren't going against anyone while snapping. I just think the reason Coach Mueller did it was so he could get those guys working in the valley. I know every play starts with the center snapping but they have plenty of other time to get that done. JMO.
