Mac was a very effective QB for the red team as a 7th grader. You never know how kids will develop as they move through high school, but IMO, right now he's got the type of athletic ability to basically play any spot on the field.

Agreed. You never know where your God given talent will take you. David Justice went to Thomas More to play basketball. He played baseball there because he hated basketball running/conditioning. Scouts see the talent and he goes on to have a very good career in Major League Baseball with the Braves and Yankees. Play all sports you can and keep your options open. What God has given you will eventually make the decision on which sport(s) you are best at.

I don't think there was a CLS baseball team. Justice did lead N. Ky. in scoring while playing basketball at CLS. And he was a good baseball player, playing for a Midland team I believe. But I don't think he ever played baseball at CLS.

The best QB I witnessed this past year in the FTJFL 8th grade was Drew Houlliston(sp). I would have to say he is the most experienced and seasoned coming out of the FTJFL and I beleive he has been playing QB for three or four years.

 

This year I believe was Drew's first year at QB. He is somewhat undecided if he wants to play QB. He did a very nice job.

I believe he graduated from CLS in '81, and know they had as baseball team there as early as '87. You may well be right though.

I think that this correct. I was at TMC when he was there and I can't recall him playing anything other than basketball at Latin School. I do know he did play baseball with Midland. It was the Lath Kirk/David Justice show at school. Lath was his sports agent and they had been friends since college.

Last year the CC freshman did not have a winning season, however the previous three years prior they were very successful winning seasons, so why all the talk about CC freshman coach. As for the CC red devil coach if my memory is correct he has been an avid Newport Central Catholic fan for a LONG time and wasn't there a vacancy there?

Competition is good for all involved and if Mac does decide to go to Highlands that would be great. I'm not convinced he is going to end up at Highlands but if he did it would be good for all the HHS fans. My gut feeling tells me that if Mama wants him to go to NCC, he's going to NCC.

 

I think there might have been a glimmer of hope for him to attend Highlands until NCC named Eddie Eviston new head coach. Deal breaker there imo. But then again, hey Highlands snagged the Bardo family from NCC. So anything is possible. 20n10

I'm interested in knowing what Bishop Brossart will be looking at this year? Are they still progressing? Who might contribute on teh frosh level?

Green has played WR since the 3rd grade and Buten has played RB/WR since the 3rd and Butler has played QB since the 3rd grade. The line should be big and fast time will tell.

Name someone better and I might agree. Pavey and Swanson might be my next choice but Pavey is strictly a running back and Swanson struggled throwing the ball from what I saw and read. McCoy averaged over 100 yrds rushing and throwing all season and had a rifle for an arm. He scored more TD's than any other Frosh I know. If you know of anyone feel free to name him. He also led the team in tackles the entire season and led them to the Championship.

I totally agree. Especially when you start adding names like, Harris, Scruggs, Hergott, Schweitzer, Wood, and Geiman. NKY is flooded with a lot of great young talent.
