Highlands Varsity wont need another QB until this class are Sr's anyway. Towles owns the position the next 2 seasons and McCoy, current frosh and hands down the best player in the NKY Frosh league this past season, has a lock on his Sr. year. They should worry about developing running backs and Wr's.

The FTJFL 8TH had some good wr's one for the gold was Ryan Green and at RB'S Buton and Hayes and at QB the Butler kids looked good plus the 2 kids for the red devils.Highlands frosh will be strong.

The best QB I witnessed this past year in the FTJFL 8th grade was Drew Houlliston(sp). I would have to say he is the most experienced and seasoned coming out of the FTJFL and I beleive he has been playing QB for three or four years.

After coaching him the week of the All Star game, I would have to agree that he will be the QB going into week 1. Drew has some size and has a pretty accurate arm. He gets my vote!!!:thumb:

I agree that Drew did a very nice job at QB this season, but Franzen will definitely give him a run if he decides to go to Highlands. Anyone know if he's decided?

Competition is good for all involved and if Mac does decide to go to Highlands that would be great. I'm not convinced he is going to end up at Highlands but if he did it would be good for all the HHS fans. My gut feeling tells me that if Mama wants him to go to NCC, he's going to NCC.

Are you talking about Mac Franzen? If so, what does Mac have anything to do with the QB situation. If Mac does go to HHS, which I don't think is going to happen. He will be one of HHS's most prolific receivers that the school has ever seen. I have been around a lot of kids his age and no one can body up and get a ball like Mac. Mac is a very special player!!!! If you added Mac to this already loaded incoming Freshman team, this could be another very special class. Even without Mac, they are going to be scary good. Mark it down!!!!

I agree with TBirds, Mac is a tight end, wide receiver type. He was really good most games last year at those positions.

I agree Mac is a good receiver/TE but have you ever watched him play QB. He has a strong arm, smart kid and is very mobil. If Mac wants to play QB trust me he can compete for the QB position. I wish him the best of luck wherever he decides to play!!!

I have to agree this is a very talented class in football and its early but I too expect great things from this bunch moving forward. The rich get richer...:D

Had no idea....When was he able to play QB with "MAC" rule in effect:laugh: No seriously, I wish Mac the best of luck. I think momma is going to be the deciding factor here. I think if it was up to his Dad, he would be at HHS. Whenever you get National exposure like they have had the last 10 years and especially this past year, it doesn't take a Lawyer:laugh: like Steve to figure what kind of situation you would like to put your son in. And win some pretty big games to boot!!!!:thumb:

Mac played QB 3rd/4th,5th and 6th grade. I believe he played some his 7th grade year as well. Unfortunately his 8th grade year he was over the weight limit which is why he played TE. I think this problem also helped him to become a better overall player.

Hatton could end up playing Div 1 hoops and he is crazy to play football imo. If he were at Highlands I would say go for it but I don't see Dixie making any run at a state championship soon and he is just risking injury. You don't find too many kids who can play hoops like BH. He has a high basketball IQ, a very sweet shot, a varsity body already and he would be better served working on agility and strength training during the Fall in order to prepare him for the college game. With all that said it certainly is his choice and if he enjoys playing football then he should play and have fun.

Hatton is only an an 8th grade kid who deserves to play any sport he desires at this age. I would hate for a kid to miss out on their high school days of attending school and having fun playing multiple sports just because everyone else thinks they might be the next Michael Jordan. As they begin to enter the Junior/Senior year, I see it then as a time to narrow down if you're receiving attention from major colleges. I always say the injury issue is in God's hands for any sport, which is also why grades should be the most important part of high school for these kids. My advice is to do what you like until you get an offer such as Tate Nichols and Tyler Grubbs who were both multiple sport players until receiving gracious college offers.JMO

Mac was a very effective QB for the red team as a 7th grader. You never know how kids will develop as they move through high school, but IMO, right now he's got the type of athletic ability to basically play any spot on the field.
