NKY Freshman Football

Good post dd734 but if its a mutiny of parents who clearly have an agenda against his ties to the Red Devil program then that is not fair.

What happened to Doug Miller? The last I heard he was doing a great job as the Freshman coach at CC?

He is still there. He is not the freshman coach anymore, don't believe he coached the freshman last year.

Don't know anything about Ken Morgan, other than he is a CCRD Juniors coach and if you need a phone go see him. Does coaching fifth and sixth graders equate to a good freshman coach. I don't know. Campbell County has at least three former CCRD coaches on their varsity staff. What has that brought to the table as for wins and loses, or any type of post season play. Maybe everything, maybe nothing, maybe they just have a lack of talent. I see good players go to other schools and excel, out at the County they just seem to fade into the obiss as a team. Not taking anything away from the players, there are some really great players out there. The problem has to lie somewhere and someone needs to be held responsible. So does adding another CCRD coach to the staff at Campbell County help the program, or does the CCRD style not translate to success at the high school and varsity level. Do you need something more to take them to the next level? Or does the problem lie somewhere else? Once again I don't know.

The husband of the principal at Campbell County use to be the head football coach there. I believe the principal has the final say in the hiring process, not he AD. I don't care who coaches or who doesn't. I would just like to see the Camels make it out of Northern Ky. once in awhile and get a little tradition started. Winning shuts a lot of noisy traps. Go Camels

Renee Boots is the Principal at CCHS and i dont recall her husband ever being named the HC. CCHS definitely lacks tradition from a football standpoint. They play in a very competitive 6A District and until they get a premiere offensive player, they will not be competing for the top two or three spots in their district. And to all CCHS fans, passing the ball 60x per game doesnt automatically qualify someone as a premiere player.

I don't know that that is it. I'm not that close to it, but I have heard some grumbling about it, on both sides. I don't believe it has anything to do with CC youth football as someone said earlier in this post. I believe there is a lot of unrest at Campbell County. I don't believe you can point fingers at parents all of the time with a negative angle. A lot of the grumbling I hear, is from former adult players and Alum. from Campbell Co. Parents have an expectation for their children's coaches to produce. I read plenty of grumbling from other programs on here about coaching and coaching changes. Some seem to think that unrest is only from parents that have children sitting the bench or just standing on the sidelines and not playing. Some of the squeekiest wheels I hear are from parents that have children playing every down of offense or defense or both ways in some cases, that want more success in the program. If you have a winning program and some tradition at your school, much is over looked. When your program is struggling, your under a microscope constantly and every move you make is questioned. It has taken quite some time to get to this point, and it is going to take some time to get past it. As I said earlier, winning cures many ailments. GO Camels :taz:

Just for the record, I believe the Camels need to run the ball much, much more than they do. Why would you think that I was referring to the Camels passing game. I was actually thinking line backers, some linemen, tight end, WR, and some kids that don't get a chance to run the ball, with my comment.

I as well think your last comment was a cheap shot, to the fans as well as the player! I'll not comment further in this thread.

It doesn't matter the age of the players. If you can create a system for players to excel in the league they are competing in, then that determines a good coach. A good coach will understand their competition. Then coach to overcome it. Putting the players in right positions is critical. You have to have a head coach with a good vision then everyone falls into place. Ken is one of the best at that. That's what would help CC Freshmen. Most people who know Ken would agree with my comments.

I would agree totally. You may say what you want about Ken's attitude but you can't question his dedication or his committment to the kids.

Ken would have started a great foundation for CC football that would have only benefited the varsity level in years to come.

What does the incoming class at Cooper and Ryle look like?

They seemed to be the cream of the crop from the Boone County schools last year.

I think Highlands is doing just fine with their own kids from the Fort Thomas Jr. Football league.:thumb:

To my knowledge there are 2 kids from Ft. Thomas who played for the Red Devils; Hergott, and Wrobleski. Scweitzer lives in the county and played as an 8th grader on the freshman team (defensive lineman award). They have indicated Harris, who was the RD's MVP, is very interested in coming to Highlands.

This class should be "special" similiar to the 07 and 09 classes. I don't recall 2 8th grade players (due to size) playing up on the Freshman team and being valuable contributors in the years I've been around HHS. They will both be playing Freshman this year (True and Schweitzer). If everyone comes out this class will rival or have more size than any HHS team. As usual plenty of athletes. QB could be the biggest question mark.

Agreed. You never know where your God given talent will take you. David Justice went to Thomas More to play basketball. He played baseball there because he hated basketball running/conditioning. Scouts see the talent and he goes on to have a very good career in Major League Baseball with the Braves and Yankees. Play all sports you can and keep your options open. What God has given you will eventually make the decision on which sport(s) you are best at.

Completely off target, but isn't Coach Conners the only coach to coach a future rookie of the year in 2 different sports?

I'm interested to see how many Red Devil players who were leaning towards the county will give NewCath a look now.

Interesting tidbit, I can't imagine there are many if any others.

There were a couple very good 8th grade QB's in the FTJFL this past season. One is definitely going to HHS, the other has not yet decided (as far as I know).

By question mark I mean no clear cut candidate. In the 09 class Bardo played QB from third grade through-out. Corey Dill also played some as a Freshman. The 07 class had Cecil and Draper who played QB all years of FTJFL. There hasn't been someone who has started every year at QB, having lots of experience, that you say "that's our guy" for what it's worth going into Freshman ball, that I'm aware of. There are several candidates, depending on who decides to come and who wants to play QB.
