Do you drink pop/soda?

Featured Replies

Nectar of the Gods. I stopped drinking regular pop about 5 years ago. Now I drink Diet Dew (3-5 20oz bottles a day).

A lot of Gatorade/Water for me but when I go out to eat I tend to drink soda.

I've heard that diet pop is terrible on your body.

Why is it supposedly bad?

All the chemicals. really.

I drink diet drinks exclusively, and there's really no benefit (in my mind anyway) to stopping that. Switching from regular to diet had a huge positive effect on my waistline when I did it.

I drink entirely too much pop. I rarely drink water at all. It's bad...I know.

Caffeine would probably be the worst chemical in soft drinks. They also have phosphoric acid in it, but milk has more phosphorus in it than sodas. Since the diet drinks have no corn syrup in them, I can't see how they could be very unhealthy.

Until about 2 weeks ago, I was drinking over 2 liters of Mt.Dew a day. After a doctor's visit in which we discussed my high blood pressure and weight, I now drink diet Pepsi. I have lost about 10 pounds since.

It took a little longer, but I went from 212 to 184 cutting way back on sugar, with the major change being the switch from leaded to unleaded.

Polar opposite right here. My firends always get on me for having to go to the rest room alot when we go out. But I drink a ton of water, beer and what not at the bar just makes me have to goooooo!

I lost 18 pounds in 6 weeks. I stopped the 3 cans a day of pepsi and stopped eating red meat. I lost 2 inches around my gut.

Right now I am at the hospital waiting on my 60 year old father recover from an emerengcy open heart by-pass surgery. They did 6 by-passes...yikes. I have never been more proud of my decision to stop dumping crap in my system. Seeing my dad go through that at a relatively young age has only helped me to stay on course.

I don't drink soda drinks all that much. May have 3-5 cans, or 1-4 20 oz. a week. I'm a big tea drinker, and usually prefer a Nestea in a can/bottle over anything else. If I go to a restaurant I normally order Sweet Tea. To switch it up I normally work a lot of gatorade/water in while I'm in class or going to class.

My ex roommate though is a different story. When we both lived in our apartment, the boy would drink at least 15 Dr. Pepper's a day. I mean he was like Forest Gump at the All-American White House Meeting. We would buy a 24 pack and it was always gone within sometime the next day, with me normally only having one or two, sometimes none of them. He was like nothing I had ever seen, he could sure put it away. :D

Personally though, I always joke I am like a camel because compared to most people I don't drink that much. On an average day I have the equal of 2-4 20 oz. of beverage. If I buy a 20 oz. beverage (no matter what it is) It normally lasts me three to four hours (of course placing it in the fridge periodically) before I get it finished.

I gave up regular soda a few years ago. Stuck with the diet stuff. The past 2-3 years, I would drink very few diet sodas. Towards the end of July, I had a streak of about a week without one and did not think anything about it. I have continued the streak. About 7 months now without one. Only things I really drink are water and milk. Sometimes a little juice. Beer is a must on Saturdays after my long runs. Speaking of which...

I haven't had a soda since 2001.

Do this experiment sometime. Put a penny in a coke/pepsi and leave it there for 30 days. I bet you rethink drinking that next coke/pepsi.
